TheGovernment & Community Affairs Advisorserves as apolicyintelligence and coordination resource supporting the company27s government and community affairs strategy. This roleis responsible formonitoring and tracking local, state, and federal legislative and regulatory developments, translating complex policy issues into clear business impacts, conducting policyresearchand producing legislative briefs, and helping coordinate government and community affairs activities across the organization. The position also supports external engagement and ensures disciplined tracking, reporting, and execution of government and community affairs priorities.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, detail-oriented, politically aware, and able to communicate complex issues clearly and professionally. Depending on experience and skillset, the individual may also support external engagement efforts with elected officials, trade associations, chambers of commerce, and community stakeholders.

  • Servesas a liaison between Government Affairs and internal business units by translating policy developments into clear, actionable insights

  • Preparespolicy summaries, briefing materials, presentations, and internal communications for leadership and subject matter experts

  • Supportsengagement with external stakeholders, including policymakers, trade associations, and industry groups, andassistwith preparation for meetings and public policy discussions

  • Managestimelines, deliverables, and documentation for government affairs initiatives, includingmaintainingorganized legislative and community affairs records

  • Providespolitical outreach and coordination support during storm restoration and emergency response efforts

What does it take to be aGovernment & Community Affairs Advisor

Required:

  • Bachelor27s degree in business administration, public affairs, government policy or related and experience in a government, public affairs,policyor related field. In lieu of abachelorsdegree, an associate degree in theaforementioned fieldsand 3+ years of experience in a government, public affairs,policyor related field.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to distill complex topics into clear summaries

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate cross-functional views and inputs

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills

  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills and effective negotiating techniques to gain agreement

  • Valid driver27s license

Preferred:

  • Bachelor27s degreein relevant field

  • 5+years experiencein a government, public affairs, policy or related field

  • Knowledge of and experience with New York State legislative process orregulatory matters

  • Familiarity with policy tracking tools, dashboards, or data visualization
