Full Job Description
PSE's Government and Community Affairs team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Government Affairs Representative II position!

Job Description

Provides cross-functional analytical support for all levels of government and community affairs activities (local, state (WA & MT), federal, and industry-wide). Manages and supports a wide range of legislative, public policy, and corporate initiative activities . Advances PSE strategies through coalition building and direct advocacy as assigned. Develops and manage aspects of various initiatives critical to build the business, maintain operations, advance opportunity and mitigate risks.

Upholds the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE's operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities. Promotes and supports a culture of total safety.

Demonstrates commitment to conduct business honestly, ethically and consistent with our core values and Code of Conduct. Ensures duties are performed in accordance with all regulatory compliance obligations.

This job is considered "safety sensitive" as defined in RCW 49.44.240 and is subject to pre-employment drug screening that includes screening for the presence of marijuana and marijuana metabolites.

Job Responsibilities

  • Tracks, analyzes, and monitors legislation of importance or impact to PSE. Works cross-functionally to assess legislative impact and determine policy positions.
  • Identifies and analyzes current and emerging public policy issues impacting the electric and natural gas utility industries.
  • Prepares summaries, reports, testimony, and other digestible information that can be used to advance PSE's public policy priorities.
  • Manages supplemental research in helping to build objective policy positions and tactical campaigns.
  • Represents the diverse perspectives of the Government and Community Affairs Department on cross-functional corporate initiatives.
  • Assembles and facilitates internal and external project teams as assigned.
  • Performs as a key coordinator and manager of the execution of PSE external strategies.
  • Supports their manager in managing the day-to-day budget and operational responsibilities for their assigned function.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in political science, communications or equivalent combination of education and/or work experience
  • 4 years' experience in government relations, public policy, communications
  • Working knowledge of political, community and charitable processes
  • Excellent written or verbal communications
  • Strong research skills and experience
  • Valid WA State Driver's license
  • Demonstrated analytical, advocacy and problem solving skills
  • Flexibility to work beyond normal working hours as needed


Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in the utility industry
  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently

The pay range for this position is $82,000.00 - $136,300.00, and this position is eligible for annual goals based incentive bonuses.
