POSITION SUMMARY:

The Governance & Reporting Director provides strategic leadership for enterprise portfolio governance, reporting, and decision-support processes across Marathon Petroleum's portfolio management office. This role is responsible for establishing and executing governance frameworks, reporting standards, escalation processes, and performance measures that enable effective portfolio oversight, informed decision-making, and alignment with enterprise priorities. The position serves as a trusted advisor to senior leaders by providing insights on portfolio prioritization, sequencing, risk management, resource allocation, and business value realization.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Direct the enterprise portfolio governance and reporting operating model across multiple workstreams, business functions, and leadership forums to enable disciplined portfolio execution, informed decision-making, and alignment with enterprise priorities.
  • Develop, integrate, and execute portfolio governance strategies, reporting frameworks, escalation processes, and review routines that support functional business plans, enterprise portfolio objectives, and effective portfolio oversight.
  • Lead governance, reporting, and portfolio management resources by establishing departmental priorities, allocating resources, and ensuring effective support for portfolio reviews, steering committees, and business planning activities.
  • Own executive portfolio reporting and decision-support processes, including leadership presentations, governance materials, action tracking, risk and dependency reporting, escalation management, and decision documentation.
  • Facilitate cross-functional governance reviews to identify, assess, and resolve portfolio risks, resource constraints, unresolved dependencies, value impacts, and decision bottlenecks affecting portfolio performance.
  • Advise the Enterprise Portfolio Management Lead and senior leaders on portfolio prioritization, sequencing, trade-offs, governance implications, and escalation decisions to optimize portfolio outcomes and business value.
  • Establish and maintain governance controls, reporting standards, and performance measures that enhance portfolio transparency, accountability, data integrity, and execution discipline across the portfolio lifecycle.
  • Build organizational capability by coaching leaders and professional staff on governance principles, reporting expectations, portfolio management practices, decision quality, and accountability for portfolio outcomes while driving continuous improvement of governance processes.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Strategy, Operations, Project Management, or a related field required.
  • Ten (10) years of relevant experience in portfolio management, governance operations, business planning, reporting, project or program leadership, finance, operations, or a related field required.
