Job DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Guidance and Control (GNC) Engineer who will join a highly skilled team of systems engineering technologists and algorithm developers supporting missile system and fire control system design, development, integration, and test.
What You Will Be DoingGNC Engineer tasks include:
- Design, develop, and deploy embedded algorithms that perform inertial tracking, inertial navigation and/or sensor fusion
- Develop, verify, and validate both complex models and simulations that utilize match filters, convolutional neural networks, and other such techniques to detect targets of interest.
- Evaluate system performance in complex scenarios and environments and verify system and subsystem level requirements
- Perform critical studies, analyses, and test activities that support ground and flight test efforts including Hardware-In-The-Loop (HWIL) activities
- Opportunities will exist to join small teams of engineers and algorithm developers on a variety of different programs that are in various stages of product development.
- Support program reviews and technical interchange meetings with internal leadership and/or external customers.

Basic Qualifications- BS in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, computer science, applied mathematics, or similar STEM degree and 1+ years of relevant experience.
- Interim Secret Clearance is need to start, therefore you must be a US Citizen.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment
- Experience leading technical multi-disciplinary teams and having been involved in briefing and interfacing with customers
- Familiarity in SW development environments like Git using programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, C++, FORTRAN, or Ada.
- Experience with different simulation and test environments (6-DOF IFS, HWIL, flight test experience, etc.)
- Solid foundation in linear algebra, dynamics, coordinate frame transformations, and state estimation techniques
Desired skills- Experience using a Linux-based operating system
- Familiarity with some, or all, of the following: linear algebra, probability and statistics, state dynamic equations, Kalman filter applications, kinematics and rotating coordinate systems
- Experience integrating and testing hardware and software in Hardware In-the-Loop (HWIL)
- Prior experience supporting flight tests
- Ability to occasionally travel for up to two weeks at a time to White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico to support flight tests. Experience in air and missile defense, development, and testing is required.

National Pay StatementPay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $82,900 - $146,165. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
