Job Description

The Metrology Supervisor is responsible for leading daily calibration, corrective maintenance, and troubleshooting activities for GMP manufacturing, laboratory, utility, and facility systems. This role supervises assigned personnel, prioritizes and schedules work, balances team workload, and ensures activities are completed safely, accurately, and in compliance with GMP, quality, safety, and Maintenance Excellence Program (MEP) requirements.

This position is accountable for timely completion and documentation of work orders, calibration activities, quality records, and related metrology documentation. The Metrology Supervisor partners with Manufacturing, Engineering, Validation, Quality, Reliability, EHS, vendors, and contractors to support equipment reliability, regulatory and client audits, and ensure uninterrupted site operations.

The successful candidate must be able to lead in a fast-paced, manufacturing environment, make sound decisions under pressure, communicate effectively across departments, and maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, compliance, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities:
  • Supervise metrology personnel responsible for calibration, corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency response activities.
  • Monitor daily work to ensure critical tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with production needs.
  • Review and implement on-going improvements to the efficiency of the calibration process, including optimizing calibration frequencies based upon increasing levels of confidence and reliability. Support improvement initiatives for new technologies, software/system upgrades, and AI integration and data analytics
  • Review work orders to ensure accurate documentation, equipment performance, and timely completion of assigned work within the CMMS (Maximo).
  • Monitor calibration work order completion; drive on-time completion, backlog control, and workload balance across the team.
  • Provide technical direction, coaching, training, and performance feedback to assigned personnel.
  • Maintain training schedules, review document revisions, and ensure personnel remain current on required training.
  • Support timekeeping, vacation planning, scheduling, and performance review processes as required.
  • Support Change Controls, CAPAs, deviations, equipment investigations (operational issues and out of tolerance events), audit requests, and regulatory inspection activities.


Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, science, or closely related discipline is desired, or equivalent technical experience plus demonstrated competence.
  • Desired 6+ years of significant engineering and/or operational experience. A postgraduate education/degree is desired and may contribute towards the desired years of experience.
  • Possesses a strong technical knowledge and application of concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Works on problems of complex scope where analysis of situations or data involves multiple competing factors.
  • Demonstrates judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
  • Strong oral/written communication skills; ability to listen to and apply feedback from a variety of stakeholders.
  • Strong problem identification, analysis, and solution development skills.
  • Effective planning, workload management, and organizational skills.
