Global Underwriting Manager - Liability

Multiple Locations

AXA XL underwrites casualty insurance coverage to companies of all sizes. Born as a solution over 30 years ago to a global problem, this is a longstanding and core product line of AXA XL with excellent prospects for the Global Underwriting Manager to increase their profile and advance their career.

The Global Underwriting Manager will be part of Global Casualty Underwriting office providing AXA XL the ability to deploy Global Product Strategy and associated frameworks and controls.

As client's' casualty exposures become more sophisticated, new emerging risks present and inflationary legal trends persist, the role of the Global Casualty Underwriting Manager will be critical to driving underwriting excellence across our casualty products and supporting the development of tailored solutions to address their complex risks, validating AXA XL's reputation as a market leader.

What you'll be doing

What will your essential responsibilities include?
  • Support the GCUO with development and review of Insurance contract wordings, in conjunction with Legal and Wordings
  • Lead Underwriting Reviews to identify trends withing portfolios that require remediation Co-ordination and collaboration with the network to ensure that action points are addressed within stipulated timeframes
  • Engage with Governance, AXA XL Risk Management and AXA Group Underwriting Office
  • Co-ordination of training material and support the overall successful delivery of training strategy.
  • Using lessons learnt to drive improvements.
  • Deployment of Global Casualty Product strategy and associated frameworks and controls
  • Issue Global Product Standards that set overall product risk appetite as well as the strategy for the formation of Rules and Guidelines to drive technical excellence
  • Provide representation and support to several Business Units
  • Support Energy Transition strategy, analytics, reporting and sustainability initiatives aligned with AXA's 3-year plan
  • Assist in portfolio management, reinsurance structures and profitability insights
  • Cascade of Underwriting Authority, as pre-agreed between CUO and BU CUO along with any required ongoing administration
  • Stewardship of Delegated UW arrangements

Reports to: Global Chief Underwriting Officer (GCUO) - General Liability

What you'll bring

We're looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:

Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Proven and established US Casualty underwriting experience
  • Construction and Energy background preferred
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent is desirable and experience of global insurance
  • Continuing education or professional designations in insurance underwriting including Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) / Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII) are preferred but not required
  • Act independently, think in global terms and demonstrate excellent business acumen
  • Impressive Collaborator: Develop and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Provide guidance and seek input from others as needed to achieve the best result possible. Capable of working and collaborating with a virtual team, across multiple diverse geographies and cultures.

The U.S. base salary range for this position is USD 132,200 - 257,100

Actual pay will be determined based upon the individual's skills, experience and location. We strive for market alignment and internal equity with our colleagues' pay.
