How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Global Product Manager, you will manage the product lifecycle for assigned product lines from conceptual stages through end of life. The Product Manager aims to optimize profit while managing marketing, financial, and corporate growth objectives for all regions of the world, all applicable markets, and all sales channels. Key areas of responsibility include product road mapping, product development, product rationalization, product enhancement, cost reduction, price attainment, margin optimization, commercial support, engineering/manufacturing guidance, and product positioning. Success in this role require the candidate to develop technical knowledge of assigned product lines, as well as a comprehensive understanding of market conditions and customer needs. This position partners closely with Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Product Management and Project Management in setting specific product and market strategies considering technical and commercial elements.

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:
  • Create, manage and update product roadmaps for assigned product lines
  • Provide market and product updates to broader team as needed
  • Participate in overall global product strategy and product development initiatives for assigned products and/or markets
  • Gather and analyze Voice of Customer (VOC) and product sales data (e.g. sales, margin, win/loss ratio) to identify, recommend, and help implement improvements
  • Create and validate product specifications for new product development efforts
  • Identify new markets and markets sizes through analysis of marketing research for existing, new, and emerging products
  • Influence and collaborate with R&D, sales, engineering, marketing, manufacturing, and operations to develop product definitions responsive to customer needs and marketing opportunities
  • Define and document customer requirements for new products, as well as desired changes/enhancements for existing products
  • Continually review current product portfolio's ability to meet customer needs
  • Determine which products to offer within each global region
  • Develop product cost and lead cost reduction efforts to maximize margins in each region in which products are sold
  • Develop pricing and promotional strategies based on marketing research and competitive analysis; implement these strategies in conjunction with Pricing, Sales and Marketing to establish and maintain market position
  • Develop competitive analysis materials to compare product segment with key competitors
  • Establish market pricing strategies
  • Lead and develop best practices, processes and documentation
  • Disseminate information on products and product/market strategies to all functional areas of the business unit, providing technical product training as needed
  • Responsible for all locations globally with regard to the given product and/or market platform
  • Author and assist with white papers and other technical publications
  • Conduct training on assigned product lines and projects as needed
  • Represent the company at industry specific events and on committees as assigned
  • Other activities as assigned

Required Experience
  • Five plus years of relevant experience
  • Broad product and market knowledge
  • Strategic decision making skills
  • Technical aptitude and strong technical knowledge of cooling equipment and market
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Experience with pricing, forecasting, finance and distribution models
  • Formal exposure to process improvement methodology
  • Strong knowledge of functions relevant to product management including sales, market segment analysis, purchasing, product engineering, production, cost analysis, quality, and customer service
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Master's degree preferred

Education & Certifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering or Related field

Travel & Working Environment
  • Office environment with varying degrees of noise levels
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 30 percent of the time
