Full Job Description
In this position you will be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for machinery ranging from finishing equipment to turbomachinery, supporting LyondellBasell's facilities globally. As a global technical leader you will provide high level expertise for critical equipment such as steam turbines, compressors, pumps, extruders, mixers, blowers and associated support systems in support of growth projects and continuous improvement of existing assets. You must have excellent technical leadership and judgment to assess complex issues. Additionally, you will work with members of a diverse multicultural organization across operational sites, functional areas, and organizational levels to develop and communicate executable solutions, drive improvements, and be a champion for Operational Excellence across the enterprise. In addition, you will be a leader in the company driving process safety and owning one or more SME areas within machinery in which you will develop strategies to drive improvement, own and author standards, preferred practices and guidelines and provide training across the company. You may also be tasked with leading one or more companywide improvement programs, developing and implementing SME related initiatives, participating in and guiding incident investigations, performing site audits in support of improvement efforts, and participating in machinery purchasing initiatives. A Day in the Life 3Function as a corporate Subject Matter Expert for machinery. 3Provide technical leadership to manufacturing sites and projects for equipment design, installation, commissioning, monitoring, trouble shooting and maintenance. 3Lead one or more continuous improvement programs or initiatives. 3Effectively interface across the company building consensus and working well with people in diverse, multi-cultural teams to gain support for organizational goals and facilitate execution to assure success. 3Author, revise, maintain, and implement standards, guidelines, preferred practices, and specifications related to machinery. 3Provide machinery SME support during the planning and execution of major equipment overhauls. 3Mentor and train the organization in SME expertise areas to develop the organization and drive improvements. 3Champion Process Safety, Occupational Safety, and Operational Excellence culture. 3Function with minimal guidance and successfully manage priorities across multiple operating sites and functional areas. 3Proactively develop strategic efforts and goals related to areas of expertise to drive improvement in the company. 3Provide support for incident investigations and RCFA, participate in Operational Excellence Audits, and support machinery related corporate purchasing initiatives across the organization as needed. 3Utilize expertise in machinery and expertise focus areas (e.g. steam turbines, compressors, extruders, inspection, repair, etc.) to assist sites with reactive and proactive solutions to machinery issues, drive corporate and business initiatives, and improve site reliability and safety. 3Travel as needed (up to 20%) You Bring This Value A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Work Experience: Minimum 6 years of experience in a petrochemical/chemical/polymers facility with direct experience in overhauling major equipment such as steam turbines, compressors and extruder trains (LDPE hypercompressor experience is desirable). Licenses & Certifications: Vibration Analysis Certification by a recognized body is desirable but not required. Skills: 3Strong working knowledge of machinery related industry standards (e.g. API, ANSI, ISO) as they apply to design, analysis, re-rating and alteration of machinery 3Exceptional analytical skills for analyzing data, problem solving, and developing practical solutions to complex problems. 3Experience with leading and supporting execution of turbomachinery/machinery major overhauls. 3Demonstrated experience in authoring technical reports, standards, specifications, procedures and other technical documents. 3Familiar with condition monitoring systems such as vibration analysis and lubrication analysis. 3Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing with internal/external customers. Languages: Fluent in English (written and spoken). Fluency in French, German, Italian, and/or Dutch is a plus.
