Global Export Manager



Summary

We are launching a new Export Manager role to own and optimize our end-to-end export operations. This leader will ensure timely, compliant international shipments; own export documentation; manage country-specific regulatory requirements; and lead a team of Export Clerks to successfully complete all export and regulatory requirements for customers. The ideal candidate combines hands-on export expertise with strong leadership, communication, and technology skills. Based in Delphi, Indiana within the Shipping and Distribution department; reports directly to the Director of Warehousing & Distribution and indirectly to the Superintendents of Distribution Operations. Opportunity to build and shape a new function during a warehouse expansion launch and lead a dedicated team to drive measurable impact on global operations.

Responsibilities
  • Lead daily shipping export operations to meet service levels, on-time departure, and accuracy targets and KPIs.
  • Plan and schedule exports in coordination with warehousing, customer requirements, credits, distribution, carriers, rails, ocean liners, and freight forwarders.
  • Oversee preparation, review, and maintenance of all export documentation (commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, shipper's letters of instruction, export declarations, licenses, etc.); maintain the export library and flowchart.
  • Ensure compliance with country-specific regulations, Incoterms, export control requirements, sanctions/embargoes, denied party screening, and customs rules.
  • Monitor changes in international trade laws and implement process updates and training accordingly.
  • Manage relationships with carriers, customs brokers, and logistics partners; resolve exceptions and escalations.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Export Coordinators; allocate workload, set priorities, and manage performance.
  • Track KPIs (on-time performance, documentation accuracy, cycle time, cost-to-serve) and drive continuous improvement.
  • Maintain accurate systems data and records; prepare operational and compliance reports for
  • Partner with Commercial Team and Distribution Operations to align capacity, staffing, and shipment priorities.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, International Business, Logistics, or a related field preferred
  • 5+ years of hands-on export/logistics experience, including documentation and country-specific compliance
  • Proven experience supervising or managing a small team in a fast-paced operations environment
  • Knowledge of export regulations and best practices-including Incoterms, HTS classification basics, AES filing, EAR/ITAR, sanctions/embargoes, and denied-party screening-and trade compliance programs
  • Experience working with freight forwarders, ocean/air carriers, and customs brokers
  • Strong technology skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Excel, and Word, and experience with TMS/WMS and ERP systems
  • Excellent written communication skills; able to draft, review, and correct export documents with high accuracy
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple deadlines
  • Collaborative problem solver with the ability to influence cross-functional partners and vendors
  • Professional certifications (e.g., CUSECO, NCBFAA, or equivalent)

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions on the site including exposure to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud and hearing protection is required. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in cold, hot, and outdoor conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust.

The position lifts heavy objects, walks and stands for long periods of time under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls, or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support without fatigue. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arms and fingers, two hands) and multi-limb coordination. The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee must have excellent stamina and vision.
