Compensation Details:Underwriter 19: Salaries typically range from typically range from $112,006 $171,742 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.
Location: - Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, currently requiring employees to work in the office 3 days per week. (subject to change).
- This role can be performed from EDC's headquarters in Ottawa or from our Community Hubs in Toronto, Montreal, Calgary or Vancouver.

What you will be doing: To succeed in this role, the Global Account Director ("GAD") will develop a trust-based and partnered relationship with their clients, leading to a deep understanding of their clients and prospects' current and evolving international business needs. The GAD has ultimate accountability for the overall relationship of each account and contributes to the development of tailored solutions, using EDC's suite of products, for both clients and prospects. In managing the assigned accounts and developing prospects, the GAD will influence and provide insight to a dedicated internal virtual account team of business, service and knowledge specialists who support the overall relationship.
The GAD is also accountable to develop and implement a detailed sector strategy designed to support trade diversification and economic transformation of a sector portfolio of corporate clients and prospects. You will engage and leverage a sector ecosystem of internal and external stakeholders to grow our knowledge and deploy the strategy of a given sector. You will be helping large Canadian corporate businesses further grow their international footprint and learn the endless possibilities that are open to them through export and investment abroad. You will be supporting them in bringing their vision, passion, and innovation to the world.
This position reports to a Director, Corporate Lending Canada (CLC).
Key responsibilities:- Serve as a strategic partner for customers and engage with their senior executives focusing on continuous value creation, partnership building and long-term growth.
- Demonstrated ability to prospect and grow our business. Develop a network of senior contacts and represent EDC with various stakeholders including sector/industry groups.
- Combine knowledge of transaction structures and risk analysis with insights into customer challenges, strategy, financial structures, and capital markets, providing guidance and growth opportunities.
- Mobilize cross-functional teams in support of the clients/prospects and be accountable to deploy the sector strategy and help develop innovative solutions.
- Develop, plan and implement a detailed sector strategy designed to support trade diversification and economic transformation of a sector portfolio of corporate clients and prospects.
- Develop deep insights and intelligence on sector/market new developments, anticipate emerging business ecosystem, risks, opportunities and trends.
- Influence EDC's perspectives and interests, provide key insight, and advice that enable informed decision-making, strategic planning, and risk management in ambiguous and complex situations.
What we are looking for: - Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or relevant field
- Minimum 7-10 years of business development experience, including client relationship management with a focus on international financing transactions, gained through corporate, trade and/or investment banking roles.
- Advanced knowledge of best practices in strategic account management
- Knowledge of corporate capital raising instruments utilized by prospects and clients along with market forces driving utilization of each of them.
- Demonstrate the ability to understand the client's strategy, a deep understanding of potential solutions and influence the end solution working with various functional teams.
- Capital markets experience with the credibility and presence to work alongside large, sophisticated corporate clients.
- An existing, established, professional network of corporate and financial relationships.
What will make you stand out: - Bilingual in both official languages (English and French)
- Knowledge of international business practices and international trade
- MBA, CFA, CPA or similar designation
- Recent and relevant experience in one or more of the following priority sectors, such as: Energy & Energy Transition, Critical Minerals, Trade Enabling Infrastructure, Advanced Manufacturing, Digital Industries .
