Full Job Description
TheGlazingEngineer specializes instructuralengineering and design of glazing and façade systems for new constructionbuildings. Working alongside a team of experienced façade engineers, you will develop innovative enclosure solutions, perform structural analysis, conduct construction field reviews, and provide technicalexpertisethroughout the design and construction process.This is a highly technical consulting role that offers significant opportunities for professional growth, technical specialization, and career development within a collaborative team of industry-leading façade engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engineer glazing systems for new construction projects, including high-rise and low-rise buildings.

  • Perform structural analysis and engineering calculations for curtain wall, unitized curtain wall, window wall, point-supported glazing, and other architectural glazing systems.

  • Perform finite element analysis (FEA) using software such as RISA, MAPLA, SOLIDWORKS Simulation, or similar.

  • Design glazing support systems, including aluminum framing, anchors, embeds, brackets, and supporting steel.

  • Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, and supporting design documentation.

  • Review delegated design packages, shop drawings, and engineering calculations for compliance with the engineering design and project requirements.

  • Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, glazing contractors, manufacturers, and fabricators throughout design and construction.

  • Conduct field reviews during fabrication and construction to verify glazing systems are installedin accordance withthe engineered design and prepare corresponding site review reports.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Engineers-in-Training (EITs) and junior engineers.

  • Stay current with building codes, industry standards, and emerging glazing technologies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering,Mechanical Engineering,ora relatedengineering discipline.

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designationwith EGBCrequired.

  • 7+ years of experience, with a minimum of5 years of experience specifically engineering architectural glazing systems within a consulting environment.

  • Strong structural engineering background withdemonstratedexperience designing curtain wall, window wall, and other commercial glazing systems.

Skills and Competencies

  • Extensive knowledge of architectural glazing systems, including stick-built curtain wall, unitized curtain wall, window wall, storefront, punched windows, point-supported glazing, and associated support systems.

  • Strong understanding of structural behavior of glass, aluminum, steel, stainless steel, anchors, and connection systems.

  • Experience performing structural analysis using FEA software such as RISA, MAPLA, SOLIDWORKS Simulation, or equivalent.

  • Familiarity with NBCC and/or IBC, applicable material standards, and industry guidelines governing glazing system design.

  • Proficiencywith Microsoft Office; experience with AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design software is an asset.

  • Excellent analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong communicationskills with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary project teams.

  • Ability to mentor junior engineers while contributing as a technical specialist.

The base salary range for this position is$110,000 - $125,000annualized for a full-time role. Salary isdependentvarious factors, including qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and location. You may also be eligible for discretionary incentives and share ownership.
