This Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Geotechnical/ Geosciences Project Manager to join our Georgia Earth and Environment Team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in geotechnical engineering and project management, with a proven ability to deliver complex projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The Geotechnical Project Manager will oversee all phases of geotechnical projects, from proposal development to execution and closeout, ensuring compliance with industry standards, client requirements, and safety regulations. Candidates located in the Augusta, Georgia area are preferred; however, candidates based in Savannah, GA or Atlanta, GA will also be taken into consideration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage geotechnical engineering projects, ensuring successful delivery from inception to completion.
  • Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
  • Coordinate with clients, stakeholders, consultants, and internal teams to define project requirements and deliverables.
  • Prepare and review geotechnical investigation plans, laboratory testing programs, and engineering analyses.
  • Oversee field investigations, site assessments, and construction monitoring activities.
  • Ensure all work complies with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Prepare technical reports, proposals, and presentations for clients and regulatory agencies.
  • Monitor project progress, manage risks, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Mentor and supervise junior staff and project engineers.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients and project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
  • You may have the flexibility to work remotely with travel to WSP offices or project sites as required.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geosciences, or a related field.
  • 7-10 years experience in geotechnical engineering or a related field, with at least 3 years in a project management role.
  • Strong knowledge of soil mechanics, foundation engineering, site characterization, and geotechnical laboratory testing.
  • Experience with infrastructure, transportation, or commercial development projects.
  • Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong client relationship management skills.
  • Experience in proposal writing and business development.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Nuclear Quality Assurance experience.
