The Genetics Laboratory at Credit Valley Hospital is seeking a Genome Analyst. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing assigned tasks and procedures in the Cytogenetic and Molecular Laboratories.
The Regional Genetics Program at Trillium Health Partners-Credit Valley (THP) Site consists of both Clinical and Laboratory Genetic services. Specialists include Clinical Geneticists, Laboratory Geneticists, Genetic Counselors, Genetic Assistants, Genome Analysts, Genetic Technologists and Laboratory Technicians.
Posted: Job Description:- Investigate clinical significance of sequence, copy number and structural variants found by microarray, NGS assays and Optical Genome Mapping.
- Search internal datasets as well as published literature, online mutation databases, or other academic resources for information on variants detected in clinical testing.
- Interpret clinical significance of variants using ACMGG or CAP/AMP/ASCO Guidelines.
- Prepare variant assessment summaries.
- Draft clear and concise clinical genetic testing reports.
- Work closely with Laboratory Geneticists to ensure reporting standards are met or exceeded.
Qualifications:- Master's degree in Medical Genomics (MHSc) OR Master of Science (MSc) in Human Genetics and/or Genetic Counselling.
- MLT certification in Molecular Genetics and/or Cytogenetics is an asset.
- Several years of experience working in a clinical genetics laboratory is preferred.
- Experience in advanced genetic laboratory applications (array technologies, next generation sequencing).
- Excellent written and oral communication in English.
- Collaborative team player.
- Knowledge of commercially available tertiary analytical software applications.
- Effective critical thinking, problem solving and organizational skills.
