Job Description

Summary

The General Manager will provide leadership and overall direction for New Harford & Dunkirk. The GM will measure safety, quality, delivery and cost performance while leveraging data to drive continuous improvement. The GM will formulate and implement operational strategies and programs to improve the competitive position and profitability of the New Hartford and Dunkirk, while partnering with leaders within SMC Aerospace (WASA, Cannon, Huntington, Hereford) to maximize melt capacity for the industry.

Essential Functions
  • Champion of safety, quality, and compliance throughout the organization.
  • Leads all business operations to ensure safety, legal, and regulatory compliance as well as production efficiency, quality, service, and the effective management of company resources.
  • Drives and promotes performance improvement through manufacturing excellence, continuous improvement, and efficiency.
  • Owns development & execution of plant P&L, budgets, forecasts - both short term (in the day) and long term (2-3 years out).
  • Builds strong relationships with the leadership team (EHS, Engineering, Quality, Finance, HR, Operations, etc) across New Hartford & Dunkirk to ensure alignment & execution of company objectives and effective cross-functional processes.
  • Develops others (performance management, rewards/recognition, etc) while creating an energizing and diverse work environment that supports the Company's high-performance culture.
  • Initiates operational improvements in maintenance, manufacturing, materials and other areas of the business unit resulting in greater productivity & cost savings.
  • Creates and communicates vision for the future & actions needed to achieve that vision. Sets goals, implements procedures, and provides leadership to ensure goals are achieved.
  • Develops short/long term capital programs to upgrade and improve production capabilities, increase capacity, and best utilize critical assets.
  • Communicates with customers, suppliers, and corporate executives with high intensity & professionalism.
  • Provides for performance management, employee development, and succession planning to assure team is set up for success in the future.

Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • BS in Engineering, Business or a related required; advanced degree or professional manufacturing certification(s) preferred.
  • 15+ years leadership experience in a manufacturing organization.
  • Strong track record for transforming organizations - building the team, managing change, streamlining processes and driving safety, quality, delivery and cost improvements.
  • Strong lean manufacturing experience.

Relocation is authorized for this position.

For informational purposes only, the range for annual base salary for this role is $260,000 to $280,000 US Dollar (USD) Salaried based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company's Executive Bonus Plan, paid out up to 30% of the applicable annual base salary, based on the Company's performance in the prior calendar year. Employees will receive 140 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company's 401(k) plan.

The position will be eligible to participate in the Company's Long-Term Incentive Program

This position requires use of information or access to production processes subject to national security controls under U.S. export control laws and regulations (including, but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)). To comply with those regulations, this position may require applicants to be U.S. Persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, U.S. lawful permanent residents, protected individuals as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)), or eligible to obtain the required export authorizations from the U.S. Department of State or the U.S. Department of Commerce.
