Join our team as a General Manager!
Reporting to the Regional Manager of Retirement Operations, the General Manager (GM) is responsible and accountable for the total operation of the Retirement Lodge. The GM ensures the efficient operation of the Home is carried out in accordance with the company's mission, vision, values, policies, procedures and all legislative requirements.
The GM is responsible for the day-to-day operations encompassing:
- Staff Management: Hire, and supervise staff
- Operations & Occupancy: Meet occupancy targets, manage all Lodge services (Culinary, Wellness, etc.), and ensure optimal resident/family service.
- Finance & Compliance: Administer the budget, recommend capital/operational changes, ensure compliance with ORCA, RHRA, and government regulations, and address non-compliance.
- Quality & Safety: Implement/maintain a Lodge-wide Quality Improvement program, ensure quality assurance, risk management, and meet all OH&S standards, adhering to the Ontario OH&S Act.
- Marketing & Relations: Collaborate with the Sales Coordinator on competitor analysis and the yearly marketing plan, actively market the Lodge, and foster positive stakeholder relationships (residents, families, staff, community, physicians, agencies).
- Administration & Development: Policy/procedure development and communication, completion of residency agreements, special services revenue generation, annual manager appraisals, duty delegation, promoting staff training/leadership development, monthly resident meeting attendance, and committee participation.
We are looking for the following qualifications and traits:
- Must possess a degree or diploma in Business Administration/ Management, Healthcare Management, Hospitality or equivalent experience or be a successful candidate of the Jarlette Health Services Succession Planning program.
- A minimum of 2-5 years of relevant experience in a retirement home/ hospitality setting or related setting is preferred.
- Able to work flexible hours.
- Experience in progressive leadership roles demonstrating skills in financial management, human resources, labour relations, marketing and department oversight.
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Effectively demonstrate excellent problem solving and customer service skills.
- Must demonstrate excellent communication & interpersonal skills
- Must possess the ability to create long term planning strategies
- Must be able to function smoothly and effectively amidst competing priorities
- Must be computer literate
