What You Bring
  • Minimum 15+ years of senior leadership experience in ports, terminals, shipping, or supply chain/logistics, with proven success in managing P&L responsibilities.
  • Significant leadership experience in marine terminals, stevedoring, ports, logistics, transportation, or complex industrial operations.
  • Proven P&L and operational leadership experience.
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen.
  • Experience leading large, multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience in unionized or labor-intensive environments preferred.
  • Strong customer relationship, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change and drive continuous improvement.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field preferred, or equivalent experience
  • Strong knowledge of terminal operations, shipping lines, stevedoring, intermodal logistics, and port infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex organizations, manage stakeholders, and deliver measurable results.
  • Proven expertise in financial acumen, strategic planning, and commercial negotiations.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish (additional languages desirable).

Responsibilities

The General Manager (GM), City Docks is the senior leader accountable for the overall performance, profitability, safety, growth, and operational excellence of the terminal.

With full end-to-end P&L accountability, the GM provides strategic and operational leadership to ensure safe and efficient operations, strong financial performance, exceptional customer service, and sustainable business growth.

As the primary leader for City Docks, the GM works closely with Operations, Commercial, Finance, Safety, HR, IT, and other shared corporate functions. The GM also serves as a key representative of the terminal with customers, port authorities, government and regulatory agencies, labor partners, logistics providers, and the local community.

This role requires a hands-on, business-minded leader who can balance operational excellence, financial discipline, customer relationships, people leadership, and commercial growth in a dynamic terminal environment.

Strategic & Financial Leadership
  • Own the terminal P&L, budget, forecasting, and overall financial performance.
  • Develop and execute business strategies aligned with company objectives and market opportunities.
  • Drive profitability through cost control, productivity improvements, and effective asset utilization.
  • Identify business and financial risks and implement appropriate actions.

Operational Excellence
  • Lead safe, efficient, reliable, and customer-focused terminal operations.
  • Monitor KPIs related to safety, productivity, service, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Optimize labor, equipment, capacity, and terminal throughput.
  • Drive continuous improvement and operational change.

Commercial & Customer Relationships
  • Build strong relationships with customers, shipping lines, logistics providers, port authorities, and key stakeholders.
  • Partner with Commercial and Sales teams to identify new business and growth opportunities.
  • Support contract, service agreement, tariff, and commercial negotiations.

People & Leadership
  • Build and lead a high-performing team, setting clear expectations and accountability.
