General Manager + Area Director of OperationsReports to the President + Chief Operating Officer
As General Manager of Detroit Foundation Hotel, you will have primary responsibility for leading the property. You will lead the hotel's culture, guest experience, team, commercial strategy, financial performance, owner relationships and day-to-day operation as a visible, hands-on presence at the hotel and in the Detroit community.
You will also serve as Area Director of Operations for 2-4 Aparium hotels, coaching their General Managers, strengthening execution and connecting properties with headquarters resources-while keeping DFH as your primary focus.
WHAT YOU'LL DOLead with equal parts strategic perspective and operating detail. Key priorities include:
- Own the culture, guest experience, associate engagement and operating performance of Detroit Foundation Hotel.
- Lead, coach and hold the DFH executive team accountable while building a strong talent pipeline.
- Drive revenue, profitability, labor productivity, budgeting, forecasting and ownership commitments.
- Elevate rooms, food + beverage and The Apparatus Room through thoughtful service, local partnerships and disciplined execution.
- Serve as a visible ambassador for DFH and a connected leader in the Detroit community.
- Coach 2-4 Aparium General Managers, review hotel performance and help turn priorities into practical action.
- Partner with owners, headquarters and field experts to solve problems, manage risk and strengthen results across assigned hotels.
WHAT YOU BRING- At least three years of successful General Manager experience in a full-service, upper-upscale, boutique lifestyle or luxury hotel.
- Multi-hotel, area or regional leadership experience-or a strong record of leading beyond one property through openings, transitions, task-force work or enterprise initiatives.
- Broad command of rooms, food + beverage, sales, revenue management, finance, talent and owner relations.
- A commercially minded, analytical and hands-on leadership style with the ability to build trust and coach experienced leaders.
- Experience with independent or boutique hotels; restaurant or hotel opening experience is preferred.
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Ability to travel and work flexible or extended hours based on business needs.
