Full Job Description
We are looking for a psychiatrist to join our hospital-based psychiatry team - someone who is interested not only in providing excellent clinical care, but also in being part of a collegial, collaborative and supportive department. This is an opportunity to develop a varied clinical practice across in ED Psychiatry, Outpatient Psychiatry, Neuromodulation and CL Psychiatry while contributing to the ongoing evolution of our services. We are particularly excited about the opportunity to welcome a psychiatrist who will bring their own interests, experience and ideas to our team and help shape where our program goes next. ED Psychiatry You will join our well established ED Psychiatry service providing daytime consultation to patients deemed in need of same, supporting our nursing team in their clinical development, and supporting the flow of the ED CL Psychiatry Opportunity will also be afforded to work on our inpatient Consultation Liaison service, pending need and availability, providing inpatient consultation to patients admitted to the medicine, surgical and obstetrical units. . ECT You will participate in our ECT roster, working alongside colleagues in anesthesia, nursing, and fellow psychiatrists. Typically you will deliver ECT 2 times per month with patient numbers ranging from 2-11, both inpatient and outpatient recipients. Outpatient Psychiatry You will provide psychiatric consultation to patients referred through our central intake service, offering diagnostic assessment, treatment recommendations and consultation to referring providers. There will also be opportunities to participate in group therapy- namely DBT groups currently being delivered by DBT trained and certified psychiatrists. There is also an exciting opportunity to help shape and further develop our outpatient program. Our outpatient service is evolving, and we are interested in what it could become. We welcome a psychiatrist who enjoys thinking creatively about service delivery and would like to work with our existing outpatient team to identify opportunities, develop new approaches and build services that respond to the needs of our patients and community. There is no expectation that you arrive with a predetermined blueprint. Rather, we are looking for someone who is interested in building something together. CALL Our group participates in the Physician On-Call Program offered via Alberta Health. You will participate in the on-call schedule which works out to approximately 2-3 calls per month ([redacted] M-F; [redacted] Saturday, Sunday, Stat Holidays).
