General Accounting Manager

Department: Accounting

Location: On site, Laval, QC (4204 boulevard Industriel, H7L 0E3)

Type of employment: Permanent, Full Time (40 hours)

THE ROLE

Reporting to the Director of General Accounting within the Global Shared Services - Finance team, the Manager will be responsible for overseeing accounting activities related to bank reconciliations, internal billing, and taxes, while ensuring compliance with internal controls (SOX). They will play a key role in reviewing and approving account analyses, closing accounting periods, and continuously improving financial processes and tools.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Review bank entries and reconciliations in Canadian and foreign currencies;
  • Prepare invoicing for Irving's common expenses;
  • Review and approve balance sheet account analyses (accruals, prepaid expenses, taxes) using the Blackline tool;
  • Review and approve sales taxes and ensure that returns are filed on time;
  • Review invoicing to franchisees;
  • Close accounting periods and administer various tasks in the PDI accounting system;
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of the tools used in the position and in the improvement of procedures;
  • Follow up on outstanding items in the accounts;
  • Validate general ledger reconciliations performed by analysts;
  • Apply internal controls in accordance with SOX standards.


WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting;
  • CPA certification


Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience;
  • Minimum of 2 years of team supervision experience.


Knowledge and skills:
  • Excellent command of office automation tools such as Excel and Word;
  • Meticulous, independent, and show initiative;
  • Able to manage priorities well while meeting deadlines;
  • Demonstrate an intuitive ability for optimization.


Language skills:
  • Bilingualism required (Advanced French and English) both spoken and written, as the person will be required to work and communicate regularly in English while performing the tasks outlined above. Specifically, the role requires collaboration with global teams.
