Role description:As General Accounting Director - North America, you will lead our accounting operations across the U.S., Mexico, and Canada, ensuring compliance with policies, regulatory standards, and government cost principles (FAR and CAS).
You will also play a critical part in ongoing finance transformation efforts and system implementations.
The ability to work as part of a global team is vital to success, you will be working closely with Global Business Process Officers, Industry and sector controllers, Treasury, Tax, and other enabling functions.
This role reports into the Onshore Reporting & Accounting Director. You'll have 6 direct reports and lead an org structure of 21.
Role accountabilities: Process Design & Compliance: - Align and implement best-in-class accounting policies, processes, and internal controls in accordance with US GAAP, IFRS, and government requirements (FAR and CAS)
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal audit standards
- Provide technical accounting guidance for business operations, government contracts, and external reporting
- Support and influence the design and deployment of financial systems, including ERP (Oracle Cloud)
Process Delivery: - Review and sign off on North American financial results, ensuring alignment with stakeholders
- Oversee monthly close, general ledger activities, balance sheet reconciliations, and overhead allocations
- Lead audit engagements, ensuring timely completion and implementing lessons learned
- Collaborate with Tax to support tax accounting and compliance deliverables
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation in accounting processes through technology and automation
- Manage cash requirements and provide support for AP/AR functions and working capital initiatives
People & Stakeholder Management: - Provide direction, coaching, and leadership to a high-performing accounting team across multiple functions
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors, internal stakeholders, and regulatory agencies
- Partner with FP&A, Country, Industry & Sector leaders, Procurement, HR, and Global Shared Services teams to drive efficiency and harmonization
- Build future capability within the accounting function and support succession planning and talent development
- Foster a culture of accountability, inclusion, and continuous improvement
Qualifications & Experience: - Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field essential
- Extensive accounting experience, including leadership of multi-functional teams
- Excellent understanding of US GAAP, IFRS, FAR, and CAS
- Results-oriented, highly organized, and proactive in managing change and driving efficiency
- A proven track record in ERP system implementations and process transformation (Oracle Cloud preferred) is desirable
- Previous experience working in a matrixed global environment
- Ability to safeguard accounting principles & standards
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all levels is essential

Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
