Centra Medical Group is seeking a Board-Eligible/Board-Certified Gastroenterologist to join our team at Centra Southside Community Hospital (CSCH), located in Farmville, Virginia.
You Can Expect- Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm
- Pager call daily 8am-4pm + 10 days/month of 24/7 call + 1 weekend
- Procedure days every morning 8am-12pm M-F + Wednesday 12pm-4pm (caseload approximately 11-15/day)
- Clinic is in the afternoons 4 days/week, seeing approximately 8 patients/day
- Annual scope volume is approximately 2,200/year (80% OP & 20% IP)
- The practice is fully supported by nurses and 1 APP
- Volumes are high with 2-4 new in-patient consults/day, which may require follow-up
- BC/BE Gastroenterology Physician
- ERCP experience a plus

Qualifications- Completion of medical degree and residency training in Gastroenterology.
- MD/DO with certification by an American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) board in physician's primary specialty. Must be Board Certified or in the process of certifying.
- 5 years' experience preferred.

ResponsibilitiesExamines patient to obtain information on medical condition and risk
Prescribes or administers treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury
Makes referrals to other physicians, specialists, therapists or hospitals when appropriate
Orders, performs, and interprets tests and analyze records, reports, and examination information to diagnose patients' condition
Collects, records, and maintains patient information, such as medical history, reports, and examination results
Analyzes patient's medical history to verify medical necessity and to determine best procedure and/or recommendations
Monitor patients' conditions and progress and reevaluate treatments as necessary
Explains procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments with patients
Designs individualized care plans, using a variety of treatments
Meets or exceeds CMS requirements and requirements all other applicable regulatory requirements and standards
Dictates and completes charting in electronic medical reports per Centra policy
Performs all aspects of professional services for assigned service as required
Other duties as assigned
In addition to the above, Lynchburg Family Medicine Residency Faculty will:
Prepares and delivers educational lectures to residency students in both conference settings and in individual sessions at the bedside
Prepares materials for laboratory activities and course materials, such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts
Maintains student attendance records, grades, and other required records
Evaluates and grades students' class work, practicum work, laboratory work, assignments, and papers
Assists with developing residency curriculum including rotation schedules, educational goals, and objectives
QualificationsRequired Education: Completion of medical degree and residency training in a primary care specialty from an American Medical Association- (AMA) approved program or other schools with credentials approved by the Medical Staff and Board of Centra
