Mountainside Medical Center is expanding, and we are excited to invite you to join our well-established and thriving General Surgery Team in the vibrant community of Montclair, NJ.

Job Summary
  • The Physician Assistant, Operating Room will be responsible for pre-operative, operative and post-operative patient care, under the direction and supervision of the attending surgeon.
  • Schedule is M-F 8a to 5p
  • No call requirement
  • Hospital technology highlights include 2 DiVinci Xi, a Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) Unit, Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocols for total joint replacements and colorectal surgery, a fully equipped post-anesthesia care unit (PACU), High-definition video monitors, and high-tech navigation systems for MRI-guided surgery


Essential Functions
  • Round and monitor patients in the hospital both pre and post operatively ensuring that patients vitals, labs and suture sites, medications and needs are responded to in a timely manner.
  • Notify surgeon of any significant changes in patient condition.
  • Participate in the evaluation and surgical care of oncology and gynecological oncology patients.
  • Observe and care for the service patients in the corresponding clinical units.
  • Provide quality patient care through delegation of the supervising physician within in inpatient, outpatient and operating room settings.
  • Exhibit autonomy in the operating room and inpatient when required.
  • Handles patient education and discharge summaries.
  • Deliver evidence-based care in a motivational, empathetic and compassionate manner.

Required Qualifications
  • Graduate of an AMA accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Active New Jersey State Physician Assistant license
  • Active Controlled Dangerous Substance license
  • BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Current NCCPA certification
  • 5 years of Physician Assistant experience in a surgical setting
