Full Job Description

About the role:

  • Ability to balance legacy demands with future vision. Thomson Reuters is an established leader in the tax compliance marketplace, with a long history. So, while our ambitions are very much focused on the future, we need someone who possesses the patience necessary to maintain existing systems while working feverishly to construct the new. Our systems are hosted in public cloud (AWS).
  • Thinking in terms of computing at scale. Liberated from the traditional constraints of legacy data centers and monolithic architectures, you will design and construct elastic, fault-tolerant, high-performance, scalable systems, that are cloud native.
  • Strong Object-Oriented Analysis and Design Skills. You instinctively decompose large scale problem spaces into rich domains that appropriately combine data structures and behavior, that possess elegant layering and a separation of concerns, and you understand principles such as SOLID and Domain Driven Design (7DDD8).
  • Agile, collaborative and flexible. We are organized around self-directed, largely autonomous Scrum teams. You work well with others, enjoy opportunities to collaborate and readily adapt as strategies evolve and priorities change.
  • Engineering Excellence. You have at least three years of experience in a variety of contexts during which youve contributed to the construction of scalable, extensible software solutions and systems. You understand technology and possess a passion for excellence. You instinctively partner with the Quality Engineering and Quality Assurance team members, responding immediately to failing test cases and ensuring that quality is engineered from the Inside Out.
  • Bias towards action. You believe that speed and quality arent mutually exclusive. Youve shown good judgment about shipping as fast as possible while still making sure that products are built in a sustainable, responsible way and youre comfortable making mistakes, provided you learn from them.
  • Passion and energy. Because you love what you do, you bring infectious enthusiasm to all your endeavors. You always perform at your absolute best and see new challenges as an opportunity to contribute, make an impact, and grow.
  • Commitment. At Thomson Reuters, commitment to customer satisfaction and technology excellence permeates everything we do. You care tremendously about delighting our users and ensuring that our market and technical leadership is sustained and extended. You are your harshest critic and hold yourself personally accountable, jumping in and taking ownership of problems that might not even be in your teams scope.

About you:

  • Youre a good fit for the role of Fullstack .Net Software Engineer if your background includes:
  • 5 or more years experience in a software engineering environment, including experience with co-located as well as geographically distributed teams.
  • Strong Computer Science fundamentals in Data Structures and algorithm design. Strong programming experience with .Net Framework and .Net Core, preferably with C#. You will need to have strong object-oriented design and development skills. You possess a solid understanding of object-oriented programming, SOLID, DRY, DDD and core database design principles.
  • Strong experience in designing and developing web applications and REST APIs using ASP.Net or similar frameworks; experience with API gateways a plus.
  • Experience with Angular, AngularJS and Javascript
  • Experience with relational database systems, e.g. SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL; No SQL experience is a plus.
  • Experience working with public cloud infrastructure preferably AWS (EC2, S3, ALB, Auto Scaling, RDS, Lambda function, SQS). Experience with Containers (Docker, ECS, Kubernetes) is a plus.
  • Working Experience with AI Developer tools (Claude or Copilot, Cursor)
  • Awareness of CI/CD/DevOps concept and tools. Comfortable with the disciplines of Unit Testing and Test Automation. Worked in an environment in which releasable code is delivered every two weeks.
  • Working experience with Git and GitFlow, pull requests, branching and merging of features across multiple releases and hot fixes.
  • Whether via face-to-face discussion, phone, email, chat, white-boarding, or other collaboration platforms, you must be an effective communicator who can inform, explain, and coordinate, etc.
  • Willingness to learn and support our legacy codebase while the transition to our next-generation is occurring.
  • Ability to build and deliver hands-on technology proof-of-concepts and demonstrations.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum team environments.
  • Results oriented. Detailed oriented. Driven. Take initiative without being asked. Exhibits flexibility when adjusting to new, different, and changing business requirements and decisions.
