$61,736 to $83,437 Per Hour

JOB SUMMARY:

Supervise all EMPIRE Transportation drivers. Maintain profitability and cost control within established guidelines. Assist drivers to pick up and deliver machines. Perform all scheduled appraisals. Maintain processes and procedures for all drivers to follow. Work with Maintenance Manager to ensure all maintenance problems are reported and corrected in a timely manner. Work with Maintenance Manager to implement tire program to ensure cost reduction in cost per mile. Conduct Client visits to ensure Transportation is providing world-class service. Ensure all Company drivers are within compliance while at the same time ensuring available hours are used to the department's advantage. Conduct road test of all newly hired drivers. Assist Transportation General Manager with disputed invoices. Ensure all Transport tractors and trailers have the proper licensees and annual permits. Track and manage overtime for all assigned drivers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Supervise and develop competent driving personnel. Keep driving personnel advised of the regulatory information and company policies related to their positions.
  • Assist management with developing yearly budgets and forecasts.
  • Consult, advise and assist other EMPIRE divisions, departments, and personnel in areas of expertise to enhance corporate service and profit positions.
  • Monitor all drivers on duty and driving time to assure compliance with Federal and State time limits for commercial operators.
  • Assist dispatching as needed.
  • Assign trucks and trailers to individual drivers based on the need for transport services.
  • Create an environment of ownership and personal accountability where each person is responsible and accountable for their performance.
  • Work safely at all times. Adhere to all applicable safety policies. Comply with all company policies, procedures and standards.


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Establish and operate a plan of communication with drives while enroute.
  • Ensure that drivers are given all required shipping papers, documents, instructions, expense funds, permits, and cash on delivery invoices as required. Ensure the completion of these items at the end of each trip.
  • Keep current with the Transportation industry. Seek additional knowledge to enhance operating proficiency.
  • Represent EMPIRE in the business community. Attend community meetings and/or serve on company committees to enhance transportation activities and objectives.
  • Perform other duties assigned by management.
  • Work within and promote corporate values.


KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Must have interpersonal skills to assist clients and supervise employees in a professional manner.
  • Must have heavy haul and freight transportation knowledge.
  • Must be sufficiently organized to control an inherently fast-paced and ever-changing work environment.
  • Must have effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to comprehend and correctly apply rates, charges and regulations governing truck transportation.
  • Ability to maintain consistent attendance.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Proof of high school diploma or General Education degree (GED).
  • Previous experience supervising trucking operations and service functions.
  • General business, client problem resolution, and data processing experience.
  • Should have heavy haul and freight transportation knowledge.
  • Current Driver's License.
  • Current CDL.
  • Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write) in English.
