Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Must be flexible to meet current and future business needs. This position is hybrid and remote eligible for up to 40% of the time. The office location for this position is at ESL Corporate Headquarters in Rochester, NY.

Pay and Pay Incentive:

Starting Pay: $101,852 Salary Range: $78,363 - $113,596

In addition to competitive pay and benefits, we offer an annual performance-based incentive that rewards eligible employees for their contributions to our success.

Purpose of Position:

This position will monitor and ensure the 24/7 online functionality of fraud systems are operative and in compliance with industry/vendor standards and regulations. This role will be responsible and accountable for the risk tolerance of the organization by openly sharing ideas and recommendation. Additionally, this position is responsible for preparing the departments $4.3M expense budget, distributing and answering all questions regarding invoices, quarterly variance reporting, and will assist in the performance of duties in the absence of Manager, Fraud Prevention & Investigation. In addition, position is responsible for leading and participating in corporate and local projects.

Accountabilities:

Develops, implements, and refines critical fraud system Controls for the purpose of detecting and preventing fraud, including testing to identify, measure, and validate fraud processes.

  • Coordinate department responses for all levels of escalated issues, including those identified by internal/external partners, customers, and leadership.
  • Analyzes activity to detect and prevent fraudulent activity based on reports, alerts, or notifications from third parties requesting assistance.
  • Prepares and Analyzes internal and external fraud loss data reporting to monitor risk management activities associated with significant losses.
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to departmental processes, procedures and standards.
  • Establish and maintain active relationships with vendors, partnership organizations, financial institutions, local/state/federal authorities and internal partners on trends.
  • Identify, develop and implement improvements to supported front-line processes to maximize operational efficiency while balancing member satisfaction.
  • Track, review and communicate regulatory/product changes, in coordination with the Supervisor, Fraud Prevention & Investigation by virtue of business news articles and portfolio changes.


Monitor, analyze and compile monthly/quarterly and annual reporting on fraud prevention metrics and recommend improvements to processes to improve overall performance of the business unit.

  • Conduct annual Fraud Prevention & Investigation Vendor Reviews in conjunction with Legal, the Vendor Manager and the Manager, Fraud Prevention & Investigation.
  • Analyze workflow volumes to ensure the appropriate level of staffing is in place to maintain the operational activities of the department
  • Prepares monthly/quarterly management reports of all activities, including averted and sustained losses, and recovered monies.
  • Maintains an in-depth awareness of company goals and industry trends.


Provide backup support to the Supervisor and/or Manager of Fraud Prevention & Investigations as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or 4 years equivalent directly related experience
  • 5+ years of fraud, risk management, or operational experience preferably at a financial institution
  • Demonstrates alignment with ESL's Core Values, mission, vision, and Purpose to help our community thrive and prosper
  • Extensive experiencing in resolving conflict, conducting investigations/interviews while
    maintaining composure.
  • Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) or willing to obtain within 12 months
  • Strong working knowledge of regulations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent ability to interpret and analyze data, draw high-level conclusions and outline next steps.
  • Excellent ability to compile, interpret and present findings to a variety of roles within company, up
    to Senior Vice President.
  • Capable of self-direction, independent judgment and handling multiple priorities
  • Ability to handle confidential material to avoid disclosure of any such information
  • Advanced level application of skills in PC applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio
    or similar database)
  • Ability to calmly and efficiently work in a fast paced environment using data at hand to problem
    solve
