Full Job Description

Position Title: FPGA Designer

Employment Type: Full-time, Existing vacancy

Location: Ottawa (On-Site)

What You’ll Be Doing

While the primary focus of this role is FPGA design, you will also support simulation and lab testing activities to ensure comprehensive design validation.

In addition to working closely with the rest of the FPGA team, you will collaborate with other R&D engineering groups, including hardware, firmware, algorithms, and product verification.

  • FPGA design: Implementation of control and datapath logic. IP core configuration and integration.
  • Verification: Support test plan creation & simulation environment development. Assist with debugging activities. Review coverage reports and provide guidance to improve simulation coverage.
  • Lab validation & debugging: Collaborate with hardware and firmware engineers for cross-functional integration and lab validation to ensure system-level performance goals are met. Develop and execute scripts for automated testing.
  • Synthesis & optimization: Constraints implementation and optimization, thorough analysis of build and timing reports to ensure robustness.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain high-quality design and test documentation, contributing to project knowledge bases and future reference.

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in ASIC or FPGA design and simulation using Verilog/SystemVerilog
  • Experience with synthesis, constraints, timing analysis, clock domain crossing.
  • Experience with AMD(Xilinx) or Altera FPGAs and tools.
  • Collaborative team player who works effectively with cross-functional groups and contributes to multi-designer projects.
  • Clear, robust, and well commented coding style.
  • Problem solving, troubleshooting, and debugging skills.
  • Thorough and detail-oriented approach.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Assets:

  • Experience with SystemVerilog Assertions, advanced verification methodologies, and coverage analysis.
  • Experience with embedded processor SoC design
  • Experience with PCIe, DDR memory, and AXI interfaces
  • Knowledge of digital signal processing concepts
  • Familiarity with VHDL, C, Csh, Tcl, Python, Perl
  • Experience developing in a Linux environment

Salary Range: $93,400 - $133,400 CAD (flexible).
