Full Job Description
Purpose:
Athene is seeking a strategic and collaborative FP&A Director to lead statutory financial forecasting, legal entity planning, capital planning support, and tax forecasting coordination. This leader will oversee financial projections for assigned legal entities, ensuring forecasts are accurate, well-governed, and aligned across Finance while delivering meaningful insights that support executive decision-making and long-term business strategy.

Reporting to the Vice President of FP&A, this role partners closely with Capital, Tax, Accounting, Actuarial, Treasury, and Risk to strengthen financial planning capabilities, drive process improvements, and develop a high-performing team. The ideal candidate combines strong financial and analytical expertise with a passion for innovation, continuous improvement, and people-centered leadership.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead statutory income statement and legal entity forecasting, ensuring financial projections are accurate, consistent, and aligned with business performance and strategic objectives.
  • Partner with Capital, Tax, Accounting, Actuarial, Treasury, and Risk to develop integrated financial forecasts, support capital planning, and identify key business drivers, risks, and opportunities.
  • Oversee actual-to-forecast analysis, strengthen forecasting assumptions, and maintain effective controls, documentation, and governance throughout the planning process.
  • Lead and develop a Senior Financial Analyst while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, continuous learning, and operational excellence.
  • Prepare and deliver executive reporting, variance analysis, and financial insights that support strategic decision-making and enterprise performance management.
  • Drive continuous improvement by leveraging automation, AI-enabled analytics, and enhanced reporting capabilities to improve forecasting efficiency, transparency, and decision-making.


Qualifications and Experience:
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in financial planning & analysis, accounting, actuarial analysis, statutory reporting, legal entity forecasting, capital planning, tax forecasting, or related finance disciplines, with 4+ years of people leadership experience.
  • Experience within insurance, annuities, asset-intensive insurance, or financial services with a strong understanding of statutory financial reporting and legal entity forecasting.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, influence stakeholders, develop talent, and build collaborative relationships across Finance and business partners.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, critical thinking, and communication skills with an innovation mindset, adaptability, and the ability to leverage AI and technology to enhance financial planning and business processes.
  • CPA, ASA, FSA, CFA, MBA, or another relevant professional designation is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, or a related discipline.
