Full Job Description
FP&A Analyst:
Hertha Metals is looking for a FP&A Analyst to own budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis as the company scales. This isn't a back-office reporting seat- you will be embedded in the business, digging into why a line item came in $5K under budget one month and over the next, and helping the business actually adapt based on what you find.
You will also carry significant compliance responsibilities, working closely with the VP of Finance to ensure compliance with government and regulatory requirements, manage contractual obligations, support investor-facing reporting, and strengthen the financial and operational controls expected of a growing company. This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to understand how a factory runs, not just how the numbers look on a spreadsheet.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own budgeting and variance analysis across the business, with a close working relationship with operations, commercial, and engineering
- Build and maintain forecasts; track actual vs. budgeted spend and flag where the business needs to adapt
- Support significant compliance work tied to investor reporting requirements
- Partner with outside accountants on variance analysis
- Develop and maintain financial models that support business planning, scenario analysis, forecasting, and investor reporting.
- Get into the weeds on industry, process, and factory operations to understand what's actually driving the numbers
Your Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
- 2-7 years of experience in financial planning & analysis (FP&A), budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and variance analysis
- Experience with financial systems and ERP platforms such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar; experience with QuickBooks is a plus
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience with Power BI, Tableau, or other data visualization tools is a plus
- Background in manufacturing, industrial, energy, mining, metals, infrastructure, or a high-growth startup environment preferred
Personal Attributes
Energetic and highly motivated; high level of organization; able to multitask on many projects; detail oriented; able to focus on overall project goals; team oriented.
Level of Independence
Individuals must be able to work independently and also be able to direct long-term tasks through to completion. Some projects are highly supervised, some are minimally supervised
