Job Description

Position Description:

Barrick is seeking an Environmental Engineer to support environmental compliance and permitting of our Fourmile project. The successful candidate will support the project through the regulatory approval process and assist in maintaining environmental compliance for the project. Previous experience with environmental baseline studies, technical evaluations of project impacts, and environmental regulations and compliance will be an asset. The successful candidate will work closely with other permitting and environmental professionals, project and mining teams, stakeholders, and regulators and will need a blend of technical, planning, and project management skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide a strong contribution to the safety culture and programs, encouraging and ensuring others do the same
  • Work closely with project and site teams and provide technical expertise on environmental standards and practices
  • Assist in preparation of permit applications to reflect mine and project plans (NEPA, state, and federal permitting)
  • Track and ensure compliance with all project related obligations and permits
  • Support engagement with state agencies, federal agencies, and local governments through meetings, presentations, and written submittals and reports
  • Develop scopes of work and manage contractors and consultants as needed
  • Maintain project schedules, scopes, and budgets and implement project controls as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Planning or related, required
  • One or more years of experience required
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal skills required.
  • Experience in management of environmental programs including air quality, water quality, wildlife, geochemistry, hydrology, waste management, and cultural resources preferred
  • Understanding of environmental compliance on federal lands and private lands preferred
  • Experience in extractive industries or mining experience preferred
  • Proven technical expertise and understanding of environmental laws, policies, and objectives preferred
  • Ability to travel within the state of Nevada to support project needs required
