Full Job Description

Position Summary

The Formulator plays a key role in developing, improving, and commercializing products across a variety of dosage and delivery forms, including tablets, capsules, softgels, and gummies. This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys solving formulation challenges, experimenting with new approaches, and translating technical insights into products that perform reliably at scale. Experience across multiple dosage forms is valuable, with hands-on gummy experience strongly preferred. The Formulator will also work closely with cross-functional partners to support scale-up, manufacturing, raw material changes, and continuous product improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing and monitoring bench top, pilot, manufacturing scale-up and verification batches. Providing
  • technical and scientific input, support, and assistance to other technical disciplines.
  • Writing, editing and updating batch records, raw material specifications, SOPs, and technical reports, ensuring efficient operations in assigned project areas.
  • Using experimentation and data to troubleshoot formulation and manufacturing challenges and develop practical solutions.
  • Leading product and process development activities and supporting technology transfer by partnering with Strategic Sourcing, Analytical Services, Quality Control, Quality Standards, and Technical Operations to enable successful commercialization. Leading technical transfers for products moving to external manufacturing partners or being brought in-house.
  • Partnering cross-functionally to improve formulations, evaluate alternate raw materials, and support product reliability and supply continuity.

  • Hands-on experience with many formulation and process-related instruments/equipment

  • Capability to effectively address and simplify complex issues to a variety of audiences
  • Experience with demonstrated process orientation, even in changing or ambiguous situations, facilitating critical pathways.


Capabilities & Skills Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or its equivalent in Chemistry, Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy, Food Science, or other relevant science degree.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree or Master's degree with 0-1+ years of experience.
  • Competent knowledge and practical experience with supplement and/or pharmaceutical and/or functional foods product development, processing equipment and techniques, and regulatory requirements.
  • Confectionery (gummies and jellies) hands-on formulation and scale-up experience.
  • Proven scientific and technical ability to design and execute experimental and/or protocol studies as well as statistically analyze data, author and review protocols and reports, and present the data to appropriate parties.
  • Excellent analytical, technical writing, communication, and data management skills.


National Target Base Pay Range: $74,000.00 - $124,000.00.

The salary range for this position is based on national standards. For candidates in California and the New York metro, the Target Base Pay Range is $83,000.00 - $138,000.00, to reflect the cost of living and market conditions in those areas.

Actual compensation will take into account a wide range of factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to geographic location, education, experience, qualifications, and job-related skills. It is not typical for an individual to be hired above the midpoint of the range for their role, and compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. This information is provided to applicants in accordance with state and local laws.

Base pay is only one component of our total rewards offerings, and we will take the full offering into consideration when presenting an offer of employment.
