About the RolePosition SummaryThe Food Safety Quality Systems Manager will deploy the required quality standards in each site by coordinating the design, implementation, training and monitoring systems necessary to meet the applicable ISO, GFSI and customer requirements. They will lead the continuous improvement of the North America Quality Systems through standardization of current procedures, coordination with global stakeholders and ongoing training necessary to solidify the system with all associates.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities 1) FSQ Responsibilities: - Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of DPF NAM Food Safety Quality Management System.
- Responsible for communication, implementation, and maintenance of GFSI standard for NAM.
- Responsible to train internal auditors to the GFSI standards
- Responsible for organizing and supporting all customer and certification audits for NAM locations
- Support site FSQ Managers as needed for critical response action
- Support the quality system improvement of the distribution centers to meet warehouse standard implementation
- Responsible to monitor trends on internal and external audits. Lead and implement actions for continuous improvement in the F Food Safety Quality System across all NAM sites
- FSQ Lead for GO FSQ Training ensuring that a FSQ and Operations team are taking the appropriate modules.
- Responsible FSQR training material for orientation and monthly training
2) Management Responsibilities - Develop & Manage FSQ Systems Specialist and Technical Specialist
- Support GFSI/ISO audits for NAM sites
- Responsible to facilitate FSQ System capability feedback to the NAM Board members and represent the SPF on standard development teams for future standards
- Track and report pertinent KPI's
3) Cross Functional Interaction - Educates cross functional team and plant associates on Food Safety/Quality systems and policies.
- Actively leads and/or co-leads work with operations management and other functions to define gaps and develop procedures/policies for continuous improvement.
- Guides the cross-function team to commercial success through maintenance of food safety quality system to meet or exceed customer expectations.
About YouRequired Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Engineering, or other similar technical discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in Quality Systems implementation and management with 3 to 5 years as a CQE / CQM in a medium-size food and/or pet food manufacturing environment
- 2-3 years of directly supervising / managing a staff.
- Must be HACCP certified. PCQI is a plus.
- Expert in designing and implementing Quality systems (ISO, FSSC, SQF, etc.)
- Broad knowledge of theory and principles of statistics and statistical process control.
- Diverse knowledge of inspection and control methods, techniques and documentation.
- Basic knowledge with FDA (FSMA) regulatory requirements and food safety systems.
- Basic understanding of FSMA / Preventive Controls, Food Safety Plan / HACCP design, measurement, documentation and training.
- Certification of quality control is a strong advantage (ISO 9000 etc.).
- Experience in Project Management, 5S, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and Lean Manufacturing is beneficial.
- Microbiology and/or Regulatory background is an advantage.
