The Opportunity:

  • This position is with Combatant Craft Division (CCD), of the Ship Systems Integration and Design Department, Carderock Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center.
  • The incumbent will work directly with TYCOM level staff for NSW combatant Craft (Naval Special Warfare Group 4 (NSWG-4) on Little Creek Amphibious base, Virginia Beach, VA) as the combatant craft fleet readiness manager / subject matter expert.


Responsibilities:

  • The incumbent is the senior technical specialist on fleet readiness working directly command leadership to provide critical judgment to satisfy the overall technical/management requirements. 
  • Incumbent needs experience in craft operations, combat experimentation planning and advising on combatant craft related Doctrine, Organization, Training, Materiel, Leadership, Personnel, and Facilities (DOTMLPF) with specific expertise on maintenance, modernization, and readiness.
  • S/He will lead research and draw on personal experience to analyze and refine each element as it pertains to combatant craft warfighting readiness.  -This position has no precedent at Code 83, NSWG-4, or NAVWARCOM, requiring the incumbent to develop new interpretations and procedures which will extend existing procedures and may result in precedents that others will follow.
  • As a specialist, the incumbent provides expertise to others within NSWG-4 and throughout Code 83 on the complex assessment of readiness of a fleet of more than 70 combatant craft.
  • This level of performance and expertise is recognized by management and peers as having significant impact in the specialty area of work.
  • Work requires coordination with other specialists, project members and other working groups at the activity, at other activities and at the headquarters level.
  • These contacts are for the purpose of providing expert advice in his/her assigned technical area and resolving difficult and precedent setting problems.

Required:

  • Candidates should have prior experience with combatant craft operations, maintenance, modernization, and industrial availability contracting & oversight.
  • Candidates should have experience communicating directly with military commands at O-5/6 level. 
  • Data management and application as it pertains to combatant craft sustainment decisions and readiness.  Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for manipulation, storage, processing, and display of large data sets
  • Background in digitalization of sustainment and data collection
