Full Job Description
Title: Fleet Operations Manager, Service & Repair

Salary: $130,000 - $165,000 (Salaried, Exempt)

Location: Grand Prairie, TX (Central Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex)

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 6 pm CT

Position Overview

This role is responsible for overseeing daily operations across multiple service shops, reconditioning workflows, and yard activity within a fast-paced, high-volume environment. The Fleet Operations & Service Manager will manage the full lifecycle of vehicle intake through inspection, repair, reconditioning, and delivery, while leading supervisors and a large team of technicians and operational staff.

This is not a traditional optimization-focused leadership role. The organization has established systems, processes, and infrastructure in place. Success in this position is defined by the ability to learn the operation end-to-end, reinforce standards, support personnel, and maintain consistent execution across the facility. The ideal candidate will bring strong operational awareness, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple moving parts in real time.

Key Responsibilities
• Oversee end-to-end fleet operations including vehicle intake, inspection, diagnostics, repair, reconditioning, and readiness for sale across multiple shop locations
• Manage and develop 3 direct-report supervisors and approximately 50 indirect team members including technicians, mechanics, fabricators, coordinators, and support staff
• Maintain constant visibility across operations by actively working between the shop floor, yard, and office to monitor activity, enforce SOPs, and identify execution gaps
• Ensure consistent workflow and throughput of vehicles by managing scheduling, prioritization, and coordination between service, parts, and customer-facing teams
• Partner closely with technicians, inspectors, and supervisors to diagnose issues, understand root causes, and support resolution through hands-on involvement and active listening
• Reinforce existing processes, policies, and operational standards while holding teams accountable to quality, timelines, and execution expectations
• Support scheduling and planning functions including customer timelines, parts availability, labor allocation, and service delivery commitments
• Maintain awareness of inventory levels across parts, accessories, and shop materials to ensure alignment with active jobs and upcoming demand
• Act as a central communication point across departments including service, fabrication, customer service, logistics, and inventory teams
• Participate directly in operational problem-solving, including reviewing diagnostics, collaborating with technicians, and ensuring proper follow-through

Team & Operational Scope
• Direct Reports: 3 Supervisors
• Indirect Team: ~50 employees across service, fabrication, logistics, and customer support functions
• Operational Coverage: Multiple shop locations and yard operations within the DFW market
• Work Environment: Majority of time spent on the shop floor, in the yard, warehouse, and across all operational areas

Qualifications & Experience
• 7+ years of experience in fleet operations, service management, dealership operations, or similar hands-on environment
• Experience managing high-volume shop operations, vehicle reconditioning, or service workflows from intake through completion
• Proven ability to lead supervisors and large, cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, operationally intensive environment
• Strong mechanical and operational aptitude with the ability to understand vehicle systems, diagnostics, and repair workflows
• Demonstrated ability to manage scheduling, prioritization, and workflow across multiple concurrent jobs
• High level of attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple moving parts simultaneously
• Comfortable working in a hands-on environment with consistent presence in the shop, yard, and alongside technicians
• Strong communication skills with the ability to listen, ask questions, and translate feedback into action

Work Environment & Expectations
• Fully onsite role based in Grand Prairie, TX
• Hands-on environment requiring daily presence across shop floor, yard, and operations
• Work attire aligned with operational setting (polo, work boots, shop-appropriate attire)
• High-visibility role with direct impact on daily operational performance

What Success Looks Like
• Quickly learns and understands the full operation from front gate to back fence
• Builds credibility with technicians, supervisors, and staff through engagement and support
• Maintains steady, organized workflow across all service and reconditioning activities
• Reinforces existing systems while improving execution through awareness and leadership
• Serves as a reliable, present leader who keeps operations moving efficiently day-to-day

Benefits
• Competitive compensation and performance incentives
• Medical, dental, and vision insurance
• Retirement savings plan with employer contribution
• Paid time off and holidays
• Professional development and growth opportunities
