Airbus Americas, Inc is looking for a Fleet Managerto join our team based inMobile, AL.

Airbus is seeking an experienced and strategic Fleet Managerto oversee, optimize, and manage the operational lifecycle of our designated aircraft fleets. In this role, you will serve as the primary interface between operations, engineering, and external strategic suppliers. You will be responsible for ensuring maximum fleet availability, compliance with international aviation regulations, and driving continuous improvement in fleet performance and cost-efficiency.

Reporting to the Contracts Manager, the Fleet Manager will be responsible for ensuring service levels and value for money are realized for the entire fleet of the assets within the Mobile Manufacturing Site. The Fleet Manager will be responsible for managing third party service providers, vehicles, drivers and other assets for fleet transportation services. Manage the implementation of fleet management software to streamline vehicle fleet operations and maintenance. Oversee the purchase or lease of all vehicles and see to it that the program is right-sized to the needs of the campus.

Your Working Environment:

On 'Airbus Way' you will find the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility for commercial aircraft. Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. Your Challenges:
  • Fleet Performance & Availability: Monitor, analyze, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) regarding fleet health, reliability, and operational availability. Identify technical trends and implement corrective actions.
  • Supplier & Contract Management: Act as the main point of contact for strategic supplier transitions and ongoing vendor performance (e.g., maintenance, ground handling, and parts supply). Ensure SLAs (Service Level Agreements) are strictly met.
  • Maintenance & Engineering Focal Point: As the focal point, be accountable by working closely with engineering, quality control, and production teams to plan major maintenance blocks, retrofits, and modifications minimizing operational disruption.
  • Change Management & Proactive Communication: Lead operational and strategic changes across the fleet. Ensure that critical technical, logistics, and procedural updates are formally drafted and communicated to all stakeholders well in advance to ensure smooth adoption.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the entire fleet complies with FAA, EASA, and other relevant aviation regulatory authorities, maintaining meticulous documentation and airworthiness standards.
  • Budgeting & Cost Optimization: Manage and establish the operational budget for the fleet, identifying cost-saving opportunities in fuel consumption, maintenance operations, and lifecycle management without compromising safety.
  • Financial Forecasting: Be responsible for forecasting the upcoming annual budget, identifying risks and opportunities for the current year with mitigation plans, and working closely with the local Finance team i.e. Procurement, Accounts Payable, Finance, etc.
  • Strategic Management: Define, deploy and manage the Fleet Management Strategy for the Mobile Manufacturing Site. Manage the shuttle fleet and routes, plan and execute the internal shuttle strategy. Working with General Procurement conduct a Buy vs Buy Call For Tender


  • Asset Lifecycle Management: Overseeing vehicles from acquisition (purchasing or leasing) through to disposal (selling or remarketing).
  • Manage the operational day to day transportation operations for the Mobile Manufacturing Campus, including subcontractor management.
  • Maintain Inventory: Maintain a current inventory log of all fleet vehicles including, ground support equipment (GSE),mobile air-conditioned carts, mobile aircraft ground power units (GPUs) , golf carts and other means of transportation.
  • Manage the Fleet Team: Responsible for the entire Fleet team i.e. Fleet Coordinator, Drivers, Subcontractors, Supply Chain, etc from end to end.


Additional Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the safety of the entire fleet that ensures subcontractors conduct vehicle inspections of fleet vehicles to ensure roadworthiness.
  • Manage vehicle insurance certificates, license and registration.
  • Through support of the Fleet team, arrange repairs and routine maintenance of transportation vehicles.
  • Other duties as directed by Contract Manager
  • Regularly review processes and procedures to ensure that they are being adhered to and identify and deliver improvements on a continual basis.
  • Develop and maintain long term relationships with key strategic suppliers.
  • Conduct 'Deep Dives' where performance gaps, or potential performance gaps present themselves and implement changes and controls as the situations dictate.
  • Project manage simple, low cost refurbishment projects i.e. Capital Business cases
  • Accountable as a single point of contact for the entire fleet assets and the Internal Customers In terms of delivery and escalation


Your Boarding Pass:
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Aviation Management, Business Administration, or a related technical field. Master's degree or relevant aviation certifications (e.g., A&P License) is a plus. OR 10+ years of experience in aircraft fleet management, airline operations, or aviation asset management.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of commercial aircraft systems (experience with Airbus aircraft families preferred), maintenance programs (AMP), and aviation regulatory frameworks.
  • Change Management: Proven track record of managing large-scale supplier transitions or operational changes with strong communication and stakeholder alignment skills.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to interpret complex technical data, reliability reports, and financial metrics to drive data-driven decisions.
  • Leadership & Communication: Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to present technical and strategic proposals clearly to senior leadership (such as the Change Control Board / CCB) and cross-functional teams.
