Job DescriptionSupervises regional mechanics and manages the coordination of outsourced repair and maintenance services with external vendors. Provides field support for the repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, rebuilding, and overhaul of fleet and power transmission infrastructure maintenance equipment, including heavy trucks, bucket trucks, digger derricks, aerial lifts, cranes, trailers, construction equipment, hydraulic equipment, generators, compressors, off-road vehicles, ATVs, snowcats, and related assets. Responsibilities include diagnosing equipment issues, recommending effective solutions, coordinating timely repairs, supporting safety meeting participation, and ensuring responsive service to field operations. Builds and maintains strong internal and external business relationships to improve fleet reliability, operational efficiency, and overall service delivery. Travel is required to support staff and field operations as necessary.

Fleet ForemanHiring Salary Range: $98,000-$124,000
Actual compensation offer to candidate may vary outside of the posted hiring salary range based upon work experience, education, and/or skill level.
Responsibilities- Oversee regional mechanics and fleet maintenance operations for the designated service area, providing day-to-day leadership, work prioritization, scheduling coordination, and performance oversight. Responsibilities include setting clear expectations, supporting employee development, conducting performance evaluations, establishing and monitoring goals, approving timesheets and expenses, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with organizational standards, compliance requirements, and operational priorities.
- Maintenance, repair, and rebuild motorized and non-motorized equipment used by Transmission employees.
- Perform scheduled service on the equipment, using preventative and routine maintenance techniques and computerized work management systems.
- Apply training and skills to identify and correct other problems that are discovered during the performance of preventative and routine maintenance.
- Respond to requests to diagnose and repair other malfunctions with the equipment.
- Analyze, diagnose, and repair equipment that is not working according to design parameters.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose pilot pressure, electric over hydraulic and fiber-optic hydraulic control systems.
- Use a variety of mechanical, welding, and machining techniques to modify defective parts, create workable parts, and modify raw materials according to specifications to repair or change the structure of equipment.
- Drive, operate, and test hydraulic and moving equipment after repairs are made, including but not limited to testing bucket trucks, digger derricks, bull dozers, and backhoes.
- Complete and track DOT (Department of Transportation) annual inspections as required by DOT rules and regulations.
- Conduct all activities in preparation and completion of the duties listed above, including but not limited to the following:
- Enter and retrieve data from computerized work management systems related to the maintenance of transmission equipment.
- Use computerized diagnostic equipment to identify maintenance needs on the transmission equipment.
- Read prints, including mechanical and electrical drawings and diagrams.
- Order, transport, and stage materials and equipment required to complete assigned duties safely and efficiently.
- Communicate with internal stakeholders and third-party vendors to identify problems, schedule in-house and outsourced repairs, recommend and discuss solutions, take equipment out of service, make necessary repairs and modifications to the equipment, and return the equipment to service.
- Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and electrical isolation equipment according to specifications for equipment used in hot-line maintenance.
- Assist the Senior Manager with specialty equipment oversight, semi-annual aerial inspections, follow-up on repairs for deficient equipment, and preparation of written repair recommendations.
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures and attain knowledge and remain knowledgeable of regulations, laws, standards, and best practices applicable to functional area.
- Because Tri-State has an obligation to provide continuous, reliable electric service to its customers, the ability to work overtime at any time of the day or week is considered an essential function of the job.

QualificationsKnowledge, Skills, and Ability:
- Must be flexible regarding work times and locations and able to handle long hours of work.

Experience:
- Eight (8) or more years of progressive experience as an equipment mechanic, including maintenance of diesel engines and current diagnostic computer experience.
- An extensive working knowledge of hydraulic systems as applicable to aerial trucks, diggers, and other related heavy equipment.
- Experience in troubleshooting and diagnosing pilot pressure, electric over hydraulic and fiber-optic hydraulic control systems.
Other:
- Must have and maintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License with no air brake restrictions. (An otherwise qualified applicant must obtain a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License with no air brake restrictions within six months of date of employment.)
- Must meet minimum qualifications to perform annual DOT inspections as sited under CFR49 Part 369.19 on large trucks, pickups, and trailers.
- Frequent out-of-town and overnight travel (up to 50% of the time), sometimes with little to no notice..
- Must reside within 60 minutes of the assigned reporting location to meet required response-time expectations.
DESIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS- Previous supervision experience is desired.
- Hydraulic/Aerial equipment mechanic education and training is strongly desired.
