Full Job Description
Due to continued growth, we are seeking a full-time Fire Sprinkler Service Department Leader to support the team in Freehold, NJ. In this role, you will oversee and drive the performance of our fire sprinkler service and inspection division. This leadership role is responsible for operational excellence, regulatory compliance, customer satisfaction, profitability, and team development.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates strong organizational and communication skills, and fosters a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Operational Leadership
  • Direct and manage daily service and inspection operations to maximize efficiency and meet customer commitments.
  • Oversee work order management, job tracking, scheduling, and timely delivery of inspection reports.
  • Ensure proper staffing levels and allocate technicians and resources effectively.
  • Coordinate emergency service response and manage the on-call rotation schedule.
  • Review and approve inspection reports, deficiency findings, and repair proposals.
  • Conduct site visits as needed to address customer concerns or evaluate repair/inspection needs.
  • Ensure jobs are properly set up within the correct department and aligned with company SOPs.
Financial & Business Management
  • Manage departmental profitability, including direct P&L responsibility.
  • Review and approve daily service and inspection work for accurate and timely billing.
  • Develop and maintain service pricing structures for inspections, repairs, and deficiency work.
  • Prepare repair and deficiency quotes.
  • Identify and follow up on repair, upgrade, and additional service opportunities.
  • Develop and continuously improve processes to convert installation customers into recurring inspection clients.
  • Track inspection deficiencies and ensure timely quotation and follow-up.
  • Monitor job costs including materials, equipment rentals, subcontractors, and labor.
Team Leadership & Development
  • Conduct technician performance evaluations, set measurable goals, and provide coaching.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
  • Hold team members accountable to safety standards, HR policies, and company procedures.
  • Support ongoing training and professional development.
  • Promote teamwork and maintain strong internal communication.
Compliance & Safety
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with NFPA standards, state/local codes, and company policies.
  • Obtain necessary permits and approvals for repair work.
  • Stay current with industry regulations, certifications, and emerging technologies.
  • Manage vehicle fleet operations, including safety compliance, maintenance tracking, and GPS monitoring.
  • Ensure inventory control procedures are in place for warehouse and vehicle stock.
Customer Relations
  • Maintain strong client relationships through proactive and professional communication.
  • Handle escalated customer concerns promptly and effectively.
  • Identify opportunities for system upgrades, additional services, and long-term partnerships.
Administrative Oversight
  • Order and manage materials for warehouse stock, vehicle inventory, and job-specific needs.
  • Ensure adherence to company processes including contracts, change orders, purchase orders, and accounting procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by executive leadership.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in fire sprinkler installation, service, and/or inspections
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership or business management experience
  • Minimum 2 years of direct P&L responsibility
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in fire protection service and/or sales required
  • Strong working knowledge of water-based fire sprinkler systems and applicable codes

Certifications:

  • NICET certification preferred but not required

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Additional technical or secondary education preferred

Other Requirements:

  • Valid New Jersey Driver's License
