Position Summary
The Fire Sprinkler Project Manager & Designer is responsible for the full lifecycle of fire sprinkler projects, including design, coordination, project management, and execution. This role combines technical design expertise with project ownership to ensure efficient delivery, reduced field labor, and improved project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities and Objectives
- Fire Sprinkler Design & Engineering
• Develop fire sprinkler system designs in accordance with NFPA standards.
• Perform hydraulic calculations and system sizing.
• Produce detailed sprinkler shop drawings using AutoCAD/Revit.
• Coordinate with structural, mechanical, and architectural plans.
• Prepare and submit sprinkler submittals and respond to AHJ comments.
2. Project Management & Execution
• Take full ownership of projects from turnover through closeout.
• Review contracts, specifications, and scope requirements.
• Develop project execution plans including manpower and materials.
• Oversee installation of sprinkler systems, standpipes, and fire pumps.
• Manage RFI process and resolve field conflicts.
3. Financial Management
• Manage project budgets and labor productivity.
• Track job costs against estimates.
• Prepare and manage change orders.
• Maintain billing projections and percent complete.
4. Scheduling & Coordination
• Develop and maintain project schedules.
• Coordinate installation sequencing with other trades.
• Schedule inspections including underground, rough, hydro, and final.
5. Field Support & Leadership
• Provide technical guidance to field teams.
• Resolve field issues with design-backed solutions.
• Conduct site visits to verify installation quality.
6. Compliance & Quality Assurance
• Ensure compliance with NFPA 13, 14, 20, and 25.
• Verify installations match approved drawings.
• Ensure proper testing and acceptance procedures.
7. Documentation & Closeout
• Maintain project documentation including drawings, RFIs, and change orders.
• Deliver as-builts, O&M manuals, and final approvals.
8. Client & Stakeholder Communication
• Serve as primary contact for clients and GCs.
• Provide updates on project progress and risks.
9. Innovation & Efficiency
• Design with a prefabrication-first mindset.
• Support efficiency and scalability initiatives.
Technical Skills
- Fire sprinkler system design in accordance with NFPA standards
• Hydraulic calculations and system sizing
• Sprinkler shop drawings using AutoCAD/Revit

• Budget tracking, job cost tracking, billing projections, and change orders

Qualifications
Education & Experience
• 5+ years of experience in fire sprinkler design and/or project management
• Proficiency in AutoCAD/Revit and project management software
• Strong knowledge of fire sprinkler systems and hydraulic calculations
• Strong communication and leadership skills
Preferred Certifications
• NICET (Water-Based Systems Layout)
• OSHA-30
• CPR/First Aid
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This role supports both office and field operations and may require coordination with active job sites. The position includes conducting site visits to verify installation quality, overseeing project execution, supporting inspections and testing, and working closely with field teams, clients, and other trades throughout the project lifecycle.
