Full Job Description
Position Location: This is a hybrid remote/in-office position which supports our Baltimore, MD branch location, which serves customers throughout the greater Baltimore, MD area.

Fire Sprinkler Designers create unique design solutions to meet specific customer requirements for commercial building sprinkler systems in new and existing facilities. Fire Sprinkler Designers also make recommendations for productivity improvements and cost reductions to increase customer satisfaction and job profitability.

As a Fire Sprinkler Designer, you will:
  • Perform complete design of fire sprinkler system by adopted codes and standards.
  • Perform hydraulic and seismic calculations.
  • Complete stock listing for fabrication.
  • Create and formalize submittal docs.
  • Work with the sales staff to interpret project specifications and drawings, determine system layout, perform takeoffs, and estimate associated equipment.
  • Ensure proper handoffs from Sales to Design, Design to the Field, and project closeouts.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision from the design manager.

Basic Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or state-recognized GED
  • 3+ years of experience designing water-based system layouts
  • NICET Level III certificate in water-based system layouts
  • Proficient knowledge of current applicable codes including NFPA, IBC, UBC, UFC and the principles and practices of fire protection engineering
  • Ability to design large and complex jobs with some deviation using standard tools, products, and practices
  • Strong knowledge of industry engineering fundamentals and business operations
  • Proficient in engineering design software or drafting tools such as HydraCAD and Revit
  • Candidates must be able to work in a hybrid (onsite/remote) work environment
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship
  • Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license with limited violations; must meet eligibility requirements to participate in Siemens' fleet vehicle program

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate or Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ years of experience designing water-based system layouts
  • NICET Level IV certificate in water-based system layouts
  • Experience in the design of special hazard suppression systems and/or fire alarm systems

The pay range for this position is $64,903 - $111,262 annually. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
