The RoleAs a Fire Sprinkler Designer at AMS, you're the precision behind every system. Out of our beautiful Woodridge, IL facility, reporting to the AVP of Fire Protection, you'll support the design and layout of fire sprinkler systems for a variety of commercial and industrial projects, working closely with project managers, engineers, field teams, and other trades to ensure designs are accurate, code-compliant, and aligned with project specifications.
You'll prepare fire sprinkler design drawings that maximize efficiency, meet code compliance and industry standards, and coordinate with building components and other trades, using design software and 3D modeling. The work includes coordinating pipe and sprinkler locations with building components and other trades, preparing hydraulic calculations to determine pipe sizes, stocklisting materials for fabrication and purchasing, and detailing shop drawings for installation.
You'll submit drawings, documentation, and completed applications for permits to the proper municipalities and authorities with the appropriate transmittal forms, expediting drawing approvals on a timely and consistent basis. The role also includes attending company meetings and reporting on the status of work as required, and providing accurate and complete information on reports and quotes. What You'll Own - Prepare fire sprinkler design drawings that maximize efficiency, meet code compliance and industry standards, and coordinate with building components and other trades, using design software and 3D modeling.
- Coordinate pipe and sprinkler locations with building components and other trades.
- Prepare hydraulic calculations to determine pipe sizes.

What You BringRequired
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and mathematical aptitude, with attention to detail, a good working knowledge of hydraulic calculations, and the ability to read and understand construction blueprints.
- Ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple priorities under time constraints.
- Flexibility to be available as needed and to travel to client sites when necessary.
Preferred
- Knowledge of and experience using design software, such as AutoSprink, Hydratec, and/or AutoCAD.
- NICET certification.
$85-$125K Base • DOE
