Overview

EMI is seeking an experienced Fire Protection Branch Manager to lead and direct all business operations for the Albuquerque branch, including business development, sales, project acquisition, operational execution, financial performance, and personnel management. This role is responsible for developing branch strategy, driving revenue growth, overseeing project delivery, managing staff, and ensuring operational excellence. The Branch Manager serves as a key leader within the organization, exercising independent judgment and decision-making authority to achieve branch objectives and support overall company goals.

Responsibilities
  • Branch Leadership & Operations
    • Provide overall leadership and management of branch operations, personnel, financial performance, and business activities.
    • Develop and implement strategies to drive revenue growth, profitability, and market expansion.
    • Establish branch goals, priorities, and performance expectations aligned with corporate objectives.
    • Direct and oversee sales, project management, technical staff, and administrative personnel.
    • Manage staffing, resource allocation, workforce planning, and operational execution.
    • Monitor financial performance, including revenue, gross margin, labor utilization, backlog, and operational efficiency.
    • Ensure compliance with company policies, contractual requirements, safety regulations, and industry standards.
    • Lead employee recruitment, development, performance management, coaching, and succession planning.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, contractors, consultants, regulatory agencies, and industry partners.
    • Resolve operational, personnel, customer, and project-related issues requiring management discretion and judgment.
    • Provide regular reporting and strategic recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Business Development & Sales Leadership
    • business development efforts and identify opportunities for fire protection and suppression system projects.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with customers, contractors, facility managers, consultants, and government clients.
    • Direct proposal, estimating, and pricing strategies for new business opportunities.
    • Evaluate project opportunities and establish pursuit strategies aligned with organizational objectives.
    • Review project requirements, technical specifications, and contract documents to support business decisions.
    • Negotiate project scope, pricing, and contract terms as appropriate.
    • Serve as the primary customer relationship leader throughout the sales and project lifecycle.
    • Support project transition and execution activities following contract award.
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Minimum fifteen (15) years of experience in the fire protection industry with a strong focus on Fire Protection Systems.
  • Minimum fifteen (15) years of experience managing teams of over 10 employees.
  • Proven success in sales, estimating, proposal development, and customer relationship management.
  • Demonstrated experience developing technical and cost proposals for complex fire protection projects.
  • Experience supporting government, commercial, industrial, or mission-critical facility projects highly preferred.
  • Successfully pass background and drug screening

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • List with Department of Defense (DoD), Department of State, or other federal government projects.
  • Knowledge of design-build procurement and negotiated project delivery methods.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of Clean Agent Suppression Systems, including design, installation, operation, and maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of fire protection principles, standards, and regulations.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, technical standards, engineering documents, and contract requirements.
  • Familiarity with fire alarm integration and special hazard systems.
  • Ability to identify opportunities, build customer relationships, and secure new business.
  • Strong negotiation and proposal development skills.
  • Customer-focused approach to addressing complex client requirements.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate with customers, engineers, contractors, manufacturers, and leadership.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional efforts and manage multiple pursuits.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, estimating/proposal software, CRM, and project management systems
