Full Job Description
The Fire Chief is responsible for the administration, direction and operational oversight of the Norwood Young America Fire Department. This position provides leadership for fire suppression, emergency medical response, rescue operations, fire prevention, public education, training, emergency preparedness and other fire and life-safety services authorized by the City. The Fire Chief serves as the chief administrative and operational officer of the Fire Department. It shall lead a paid-on-call, volunteer, part-time, or combination department in a professional, accountable, and fiscally responsible manner. The position reports to the City Administrator and provides recommendations to City leadership regarding service levels, staffing, equipment, training, regulatory compliance, capital needs and long-range fire service planning.
