Full Job Description
Location: La Jolla, CA; Edina, MN; Remote

The Details:

The Financial Reporting Analyst will report to the AVP, Financial Reporting. This position is responsible for assisting others in understanding the Company's financial results by assisting with all financial reporting - including reporting budget to actual results, internal financial packages, ad-hoc reporting, and SEC financial statement preparation. This is an opportunity to work with a small team, touch multiple areas of the business, and have significant autonomy and responsibility, leading to fast learning and development for the right person. The right candidate works extremely quickly and efficiently, while producing accurate work and maintaining excellent attention to detail.

What will you do:

  • Preparation of monthly and quarterly journal entries related to stock-based compensation, operating expense allocations, etc.
  • Assist in the preparation of the Company's monthly financial reporting package and SEC financial statements (i.e. 10-Ks and 10-Qs)
  • Participate in internal reporting to executive management by reporting actual financial information compared to expectations and reporting key financial trends and drivers of variances
  • Preparation of footnote workbooks to support the SEC reporting process and of the SEC financial statement tie-out
  • Performance of internal controls associated with the financial reporting process
  • Interface with auditors, provide support and respond to auditor inquiries around financial reporting
  • Assist with other SEC-related matters (e.g. 8-Ks, proxy statement, Form 4s, etc.)
  • Support special projects and perform ad-hoc analyses as needed


What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • 1-3 years' experience in public accounting, a combination of public accounting and private company financial reporting experience, or experience in financial reporting for an insurance company;
  • Insurance experience preferred
  • Deep solid understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles
  • CPA or CPA eligible/in-process
  • Understanding of consolidation principles
  • Experience extracting data from an accounting system (Intacct) and summarizing and analyzing this data would be a plus;
  • Experience with SEC reporting and/or an SEC reporting tool (Active Disclosure) preferred

Pay Range: $73,000-$109,000+ Bonus Potential & Participation in our Competitive Long-Term Incentive (LTI) Program.

The above pay range is for all US-based roles based on function and level, benchmarked against companies of similar size and scope.
