Summary

The Office of Municipal Securities is seeking a Financial Analyst-Municipal Securities. As a Financial Analyst-Municipal Securities, you will join a well-respected team that coordinates the SEC's municipal securities and administers the Commission's rules pertaining to municipal securities brokers and dealers, municipal advisors, investors in municipals securities, and municipal issuers.

In this role as a Financial Analyst - Municipal Securities, you will be responsible for:

  • Serving as a financial analyst providing expert financial analysis for assigned area of responsibility.
  • Drafting and producing research, and briefings based on relevant and insightful data.
  • Performing detailed and data-intensive analyses and research of the municipal securities market in response to complex and difficult questions related to municipal securities.
  • Conducting extensive analyses and reviews of industry, professional, academic information, and data to maintain up-to-date information concerning financial changes within the municipal securities industry.
  • Reviewing policy proposals and making policy recommendations based on research and analysis.

  • PERMANENT CHANGE OF STATION (PCS): Moving/Relocation expenses are not authorized.

Qualifications

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT: In addition to meeting the basic requirement, applicants must also meet the minimum qualification requirement.

SK-14: Applicant must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS/SK-13 level:

  1. Performing financial analysis to formulate and recommend courses of action on matters affecting municipal securities; AND
  2. Utilizing spreadsheets, databases, and statistical software to research and analyze entity data; AND
  3. Identifying and monitoring current trends in the municipal securities market.

SEC COMPENSATION PROGRAM: Total salary (base pay + locality) is dependent upon duty location. The overall salary range listed above is provided for informational purposes; a selectee's initial pay will be established below the maximum rate of the range.
