Full Job Description
About the Role

We're looking for a Finance & Strategy team member to join our Finance team, partnering with the CFO and leaders across the company to own our financial model, core dashboards, and forecasting. You'll analyze financial data, build models, and deliver insights to drive decisions across financial planning, unit economics, pricing, and product investments. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams - product, operations, credit, and go-to-market - and leverage AI tools to make our forecasting and analysis faster, deeper, and more accurate. As part of Beast Industries, MrBeast's family of companies, Step is positioned to scale significantly over the next 12-24 months, and this role will be central to how we plan and navigate that growth.
In this role, you will:
  • Own and maintain Step's integrated financial model - connecting customer growth, engagement, interchange, deposits, credit, and rewards to revenue, margin, and cash - serving as the company's source of truth for the budget, forecast, and long-range plan
  • Provide expert guidance, recommendations, and influence to leaders across product, marketing, credit, and go-to-market on financial strategy, investments, and resource allocation decisions, leveraging an in-depth understanding of the company's financials
  • Partner cross-functionally to drive analysis, build financial models, and recommend business decisions across a variety of areas, such as pricing, unit economics, marketing spend returns, and key strategic initiatives
  • Prepare and deliver clear, concise, and insightful financial reports, analyses, and forecasts, highlighting key trends, risks, and opportunities to facilitate informed decision-making for stakeholders and executives
  • Collaborate with accounting counterparts and other members of the finance team as it grows, helping to align business and product strategies with broader financial considerations
  • Establish and implement reporting dashboards and scorecards to track key operational and financial metrics
  • Design and build AI-augmented forecasting and analysis workflows - driver-based forecasts, automated variance narratives, and scenario modeling - to make our planning faster, deeper, and more accurate
  • Lead core financial planning processes, including monthly business reviews, the annual budget, rolling forecasts, and the long-range plan, and support board materials, investor updates, and fundraising analyses alongside the CFO
You might thrive in this role if you have:
  • 5-8+ years of experience across strategic finance, FP&A, investment banking, private equity, or management consulting, including operating experience at a high-growth technology or fintech company - you can plug in and own workstreams from week one
  • Advanced financial modeling skills, with extensive experience architecting integrated operating models from scratch - and genuine enjoyment of the craft
  • An obsession with accuracy - you tie out your numbers, sanity-check your outputs, and build models and analyses that executives can trust without re-checking
  • Hands-on experience making AI part of how you work - you already use AI tools daily to build faster and go deeper, you've automated real pieces of your own workflow, and you have a point of view on where AI can transform forecasting and finance
  • A demonstrated ability to take full ownership of a workstream and drive it independently from question to decision, without significant supervision
  • The judgment and conviction to form an opinion and defend it, paired with the openness to update it as the analysis evolves
  • The ability to bring structure to ambiguous problems and thrive in an unstructured, fast-moving environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including the ability to distill complex analysis for non-finance audiences and executives
  • An enthusiastic "roll up your sleeves" mentality - you act as an owner and move with urgency
Even better if you have:
  • Experience with credit products - understanding debt and lending economics (losses, funding, unit-level returns) and analyzing credit performance data
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with Looker or similar BI tools - comfort working directly with large datasets and answering your own questions
  • Knowledge of and/or experience in the banking, payments, or consumer fintech industry (interchange, deposits, rewards)
  • Prior experience as an early finance hire at a growth-stage startup
Logistics

Location: Remote (US) or San Mateo, CA, with occasional travel for team offsites and key meetings

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer

Education: Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

We encourage you to apply even if you don't meet every single qualification. Strong candidates rarely check every box, and we'd rather meet you than miss you.
