Job Description

This Manager is the financial steward of GM's enterprise-wide AI Monthly Operating Review (MOR) - the recurring executive forum where GM quantifies and communicates the financial impact of AI initiatives across the company. This role serves as the single point of accountability for end-to-end production of the AI MOR submission package, partnering with finance and business leaders across every major function to translate AI initiatives into defensible dollar-based business cases.

This is a high-visibility role with consistent exposure to senior finance and business leadership, offering a unique opportunity to shape how GM measures and communicates AI value at the enterprise level. The Finance Manager is expected to be an expert in leading strategic financial initiatives to ensure alignment with organizational goals and profit optimization. By managing cross-functional collaborations and presenting key financial insights to executive leadership, the Finance Manager enables data-driven decision-making and upholds operational excellence with a focus on strategic depth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own the end-to-end monthly cycle for the AI reporting work stream, including final inputs, executive steering committee reviews, and final leadership mailout (Monthly Operating Reviews with Senior Management)
  • Build, maintain, and continuously improve recurring monthly deliverables, including the AI strategy deck, back-up materials, executive talking points, and a monthly AI initiative spotlight.
  • Maintain the master tracker of all active and planned AI initiatives across the enterprise as the single source of truth.
  • Apply and evolve the rules of engagement that govern functional vs. enterprise objective classification and direct vs. indirect benefit quantification (revenue growth, cost savings, productivity, time efficiency).
  • Partner with finance and function point-people to convert hours saved, headcount avoidance, quality gains, and revenue lift into defensible dollar figures using prorated deployment-date and ramp logic.
  • Pressure-test quantifications submitted by functions and explain methodology to senior leadership on demand.
  • Track and report enterprise-wide AI engagement metrics and AI developer-tool impact (unique users, merged pull requests, code review activity), and maintain the consolidated benefits view by function.
  • Conduct external benchmarking against peer companies to contextualize GM's AI value reporting for executive audiences.
  • Prepare executive-ready talking points, narratives, and Q&A backup for senior leaders presenting AI content and adapt communication style to convey recommendations across different disciplines.
  • Translate complex technical AI concepts (machine learning models, generative AI agents, computer vision, LLM-based assistants) into clear financial narratives and gain agreement regarding the business forecast direction.
  • Guide direct reports on scoping complex problems and developing creative, innovative financial solutions.

  • Demonstrate strong financial acumen by interpreting enterprise results, explaining underlying drivers, and delivering insights that drive alignment, action, and outcomes; apply strong business acumen and complex problem-solving techniques to issues that influence key functional objectives.
  • Strong financial modeling skills with the ability to translate operational metrics into defensible dollar-based business cases.
  • Proven ability to coordinate cross-functional inputs from many stakeholders simultaneously without losing version control or quality and ability to service as a trusted consultative resource
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex, technical content into concise narratives for senior executives.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Power Query, pivot tables, scenario modeling) and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-moving environment.
  • Effectively coach, develop, and strengthen team members and the team as a whole; listen and learn from each other; boost individual and team performance by adapting management styles and building high-performing teams.
  • Support clear communication, context, and complete openness within the team; foster an environment where team members feel safe to share ideas, ask questions, and speak fearlessly.
