Full Job Description
Position Overview:

The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the assembly line, ensuring that production targets are met efficiently and safely. This role involves managing a team of group leads and assembly workers, coordinating with other departments, and maintaining high standards of quality and productivity.

What you will be doing:
  • Plan production operations, define workflow, and establish priorities and production sequences to meet project and interdepartmental requirements.
  • Meet project targets for safety, quality, schedule, and direct labor hours.
  • Establish, monitor, and adjust manpower (including hiring and promoting), applicable equipment planning, and work-order sequencing to meet production demands.
  • Facilitate positive communication with the entire team on a regular basis to keep them informed of work status, department performance, process changes, and company policies.
  • Conduct bi-annual employee performance reviews, including planning, monitoring, and documenting the training and development of manufacturing employees.
  • Ensure production vehicles are ready for in-process inspections from internal and external customer inspectors in the Final Assembly Production area in advance of shipping vehicles.
  • Minimize defect write-ups and findings through the systematic elimination of root causes while driving solutions to be implemented in upstream processes.
  • Drive all areas and functions to support the preparedness and readiness for vehicles to ship.

What you will need to be successful:
  • 5+ years of experience in planning and launching new production lines in low-speed environments such as rail, aviation/aerospace, naval, and heavy equipment.
  • 3+ years of experience in a leadership role
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, Manufacturing, or Engineering preferred
  • Proven experience in the rail industry, with a focus on light or heavy rail production, is highly desirable.
  • Proficient in SAP or similar MRP/ERP systems.
  • Relevant certifications such as Six Sigma Black Belt, Lean Certification, OSHA Safety, Certified Manufacturing Engineer, Supply Management, EIT, or Professional Engineering License.
  • Hands-on experience in customer service, maintenance, or aftermarket businesses within the rail industry.
  • Expertise in lean methods and tools, including 5S, 7 Types of Waste, root cause analysis, Yamazumi Methods, Kanban, Value Stream Mapping, ABC-XYZ Analysis, and Lean Shop Floor Management.
  • Experience in developing technology roadmaps for automation.

The base salary range for this position in Lexington, NC is $91,086 - $107,100. The salary may be higher or lower depending on the budget and the candidate's experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications. The annual incentive target is 5% of the base salary.

The pay range for this position is $91,086 - $107,100 annually with a target incentive of 5% of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
