Description

We are seeking an experienced Field Superintendent to oversee field operations for the Great Lakes Capitol project in Battle Creek, Michigan. This is a strong opportunity for a construction leader with multifamily experience who can manage day-to-day site activity, coordinate multiple buildings, and keep a high-volume project moving safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

Project Overview:
  • Project: Great Lakes Capitol
  • Location: Battle Creek, Michigan
  • Project type: Three-story walk-up multifamily construction
  • Scope: 260+ units across multiple buildings
  • Product type: Standard multifamily product with strong emphasis on production, sequencing, and consistency
  • Construction start: October 1
  • Project duration: Approximately 18 months: Following this project, future project support is expected to be based in Michigan, Indiana and northeastern IL. Candidates who are open to traveling for other Midwest projects will be especially well positioned for long-term opportunities with HCG as our project needs continue to evolve.

What You'll Do:
  • Lead day-to-day field operations for a large, multi-building multifamily project.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and project team members to maintain schedule, quality, and safety expectations.
  • Manage production flow across multiple buildings, including sitework, foundations, framing, rough-ins, finishes, inspections, punch, and turnover.
  • Drive short-interval planning, sequencing, and daily coordination to keep work progressing efficiently across the site.
  • Maintain jobsite safety, cleanliness, documentation, and quality standards.
  • Identify field issues early, communicate clearly, and partner with the Project Manager to resolve challenges quickly.
  • Support a consistent, repeatable construction process across buildings to help deliver 260+ units on time and with strong quality control.

Requirements

What We're Looking For:
  • Proven experience as a Field Superintendent or Construction Superintendent on multifamily, commercial, or similarly sized construction projects.
  • Experience with multi-building projects, three-story walk-up construction, or production-style multifamily work is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, subcontractor coordination, inspections, safety, quality control, and schedule management.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, schedules, shop drawings, and construction documents.
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities, buildings, trades, and deadlines at the same time.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to hold teams accountable and keep work moving forward.
  • Steady, solutions-focused approach with strong follow-through and attention to detail.
