Full Job Description
Summary:

Serve as the lead on complex field engineering projects, overseeing advanced assignments that involve the installation, operation, testing, and maintenance of sophisticated electronic and mechanical systems. Execute a broad range of engineering tasks requiring the application of specialized technologies to ensure optimal performance and reliability of equipment and systems.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Independently performs a range of field engineering tasks involving electronics systems and technology applications.
  • Responsible for technology applications for complex projects
  • Applies knowledge of design specifications for more complex systems/projects
  • Coordinates and works closely with other engineering, logistics, financial, and program management disciplines to define systems specifications and requirements
  • Verifies and complies with engineering documentation standards and test procedures
  • Prepares, delivers, and submits technical papers and performs engineering studies
  • Supports development of technical proposals and provides comments on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work
  • Develops, maintains, and produces technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications
  • Directs interface and liaison with customers at all levels from quotation to final design and test activities; designs reviews and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications
  • Conducts site visits and experimental investigations and analyzes engineering problems, proposes solutions and alternatives, and provides recommendations.

Other Related Duties: Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in engineering or other technical discipline or formal academic/vocational/military training at a minimum of 10 years' experience in the specialty field.
  • Incumbent must possess a broad knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices of engineering that enable the employee to perform as a senior technical contributor on complex projects or programs.
  • The position requires knowledge and skill sufficient to apply developments in engineering to solve problems in the specialty area.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs
  • The position may require the ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems in operational hardware and software.

WORK ENVIRONMENT, PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:

Most positions involve work typical of office environment with no unusual hazards. There is occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting with occasional use of a computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness. the incumbent must possess planning/organizing skills and must be able to work under deadlines.
