Responsibilities

  • Perform successful installations of Growth Direct systems at customer locations.

  • Provide reliable service for emergency repairs according to service level agreements.
  • Complete required documentation, including service and expense reports, in a timely manner.
  • Participate in site inspections to support the new instrument Sales Process.
  • Engage in ongoing training to fulfill Quality requirements.
  • Develop an understanding of industry standards and company policies.

Full Job Description
The Field Service Engineer 2 (FSE 2) is responsible for installing and maintaining Growth Direct systems to meet or exceed customer expectations. This position requires critical problem-solving skills, both technically and in handling customer situations. The FSE 2 is an experienced professional with well-developed communication skills who has an understanding of industry practices and company policies. As the customer-facing technical resource, the FSE 2 will be required to perform technical work and make decisions at the customer site, which will require prioritization, evaluation , and clear communication with support and guidance from a supervisor and senior-level FSEs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform successful installations at new and existing customer sites
  • Complete regularly scheduled Preventative Maintenance activities on time
  • Provide dependable and reliable service for emergency customer repairs per service levels defined by the Warranty or Service Contract
  • Complete all paperwork within departmental goals
  • Will complete service reports, expense reports, and SFDC requirements
  • Complete all necessary training on time to meet Quality requirements
  • Develop working knowledge of industry practices and company policies
  • Support the new instrument Sales Process by performing site inspections


Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to read, comprehend, and interpret scientifically written documentation, including - organizational and instrument procedures, and those from customer and/or regulatory agencies
  • Strength in defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions
  • Ongoing development of professional output including written and verbal communications
  • Critical thinking in technical decision making as related to prioritizing schedule, making travel choices, and recognizing when to escalate issues to management
  • Computer/Microsoft Office proficiency, especially in Outlook, Excel
  • Professional email etiquette
  • Presents recommendations and receives support and guidance from a supervisor and senior-level FSE


Knowledge

  • Experience working with mechanical systems consisting of pneumatic and servo-controlled mechanisms


  • Experience working directly on software-controlled instruments


  • Demonstrated experience working in ISO or GMP controlled environments in the life science field


  • Acquired knowledge of computer networking


  • Previous experience having worked as a field engineer and understanding of appropriate and professional customer handling are required.


  • Understanding of the FSE role and openness to mentoring by senior-level FSEs


  • Knowledge of procedures to effectively contribute to updates and procedure improvements


Education

  • Minimum of technical degree or equivalent military experience, bachelor's degree preferred


  • 2+ years of relevant work experience


Environmental Factors

  • May be required to work on client sites for extended hours


$90,000 - $115,000 a year

The base annual salary hiring range for this position is $90,000 - $115,000.
