Field Project Manager - Distribution Focus

Saber Power Services seeks a Field Project Manager who will be responsible for the overall planning, coordination, and execution of high voltage construction projects in the field. Based out of our Rosharon office, this position requires full-time travel to active project sites, with the initial assignment in Laredo, Texas for approximately six months. This role ensures projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and according to technical specifications.

The Field Project Manager serves as the primary on-site liaison between field crews, subcontractors, engineering teams, and clients. The ideal candidate brings strong distribution construction experience and thrives in dynamic, field-driven environments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day field operations for distribution and high-voltage construction projects (overhead/underground distribution, substations, transmission lines, grid modernization, etc.).
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, project daily reports, EVM tables and resource allocations
  • Ensure adherence to company safety standards, OSHA regulations, and client-specific safety programs
  • Coordinate closely with engineering, procurement, subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and utility representatives to maintain project alignment.
  • Lead daily site meetings, safety briefings, job hazard analyses (JHA), and toolbox talks.
  • Oversee material deliveries, equipment needs, work sequencing, and field logistics.
  • Review and approve timesheets, field reports, and daily construction documentation.
  • Monitor progress, identify constraints or risks, implement corrective actions, and resolve field-level technical issues.
  • Conduct field quality control, verify installation against drawings, standards, and technical specifications
  • Maintain proactive communication with Project Managers and company leadership regarding project status, risks, and resource needs.
  • Support project closeout activities, including as-built verification, punch-list resolution, and turnover documentation.
  • Perform other job-related duties as requested by management.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or related field; equivalent direct experience in the high voltage utility or in industrial electrical construction will be considered in lieu of degree
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in utility distribution, high-voltage, or industrial electrical construction, with strong preference for overhead/underground distribution experience.
  • Proven field leadership experience managing distribution, substation, or transmission construction projects.
  • PMP Certification or equivalent project management training is highly preferred
  • OSHA 30, CPR/First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain promptly)
  • Experience with Primavera P6 or MS Project
  • Proven experience managing substation, transmission, or distribution projects in the field
  • Strong knowledge of electrical safety practices, including NFPA 70E, OSHA 1910.269, and utility-specific safety rules.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, distribution construction standards, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel and remain on-site for extended durations.

  • Skills:
    • Strong leadership and team coordination abilities in field/construction environments.
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to interface effectively with utilities and field crews.
    • Proficient in scheduling tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Ability to thrive in outdoor, fast-paced, and continuously changing field conditions.
